HP Photo Smart 315 Digital camera
Have you ever seen a HP Photo Smart 315 Digital camera
with the error code ERR 204. My camera worked great for the first year,
then started coming up with the error 204 flashing in the top Display.
It locked up when this happened. It has been collecting dust for a few
years now. I contacted HP and they told me to send them $300.00 and the
camera and they would repair it. I only paid $200.00 for it when I
bought it on sale.
I have looked for years on the net for a solution and can't find one anywhere. I can't find anyone with the same problem that I can remember. The HP website was no help at all either. I even took it apart and thought that they might be a way to reset it but could not find anything. I will understand if you do not know the answer. I have found some things on here that I could not answer. We can't know everything.

- Allen,I tried this already. I have even tried to update the firmware. I just had the camera coming on the other day and it was giving me the error code. I just tried to power it up with batteries, and it will not even power up.. This is very strange. I tried several different types of batteries. It has the option to plug it up, but I do not think that I ever had the power plug. I have a power adapter around somewhere that I bought that can be set to different settings and has different plugs. I am going to try as soon as I find it I found the plugs, but can not find the adapter right now.. There is no corrosion in the battery department at all. I have had this camera in a drawer for a few years now. I will keep you in mind and get back with you as soon as I can get it powered up. If you can think of any reason that it just stopped working all together let me know. It just powered up a couple of days ago. To turn it on you just slide the lens cover open. I loved this camera when it worked. I hope you can help me figure out what is wrong. Where are you located? I will send it to you if I have to.

I am not familiar with this error code for this camera, but for other HP camera models this error code would mean you have an imaging task error which means you either have a corrupted file on your memory card or your memory card needs to be formatted. I would try formatting the camera first, but remember this does delete any images on the card so upload any you can to your computer first. If this doesn't work I would try resetting the camera back to the factory settings by removing the batteries (with the ac adapter not attached to the camera) for at least two minutes, and then reinsert them. After resetting the camera you will need to reset the cameras' date and time. I hope this helps!
