You can open the admin page of the dlink router to set up the SSID in the wireless section. To do that, you will need to connect a PC to it and set up an IP address for the PC in the same subnet of the admin IP address of the router. You may see the admin IP address on the back or the bottom of the router or from the manual or from the web site of the manufacturer. If the admin IP is 192.168.0.1, you can set up the IP address of your PC in the TCP/IP properties to use a static IP such as 192.168.0.10 or something and open the admin page of the router in a web browser by using the admin IP address of the router as the URL. Then you can login there and change the setting. After you get the SSID and maybe WPA password set, you can use it for wireless connection on your home network.

I dont know what where to find out my ssid for connecting my wireless printer to my pc i dont have no kind of manual so cant refer to that please help

Some later model wireless routers have the Password(ie.Encryption key) and the SSID already configured in the wireless router andthis information is printed on a label on the bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adaptersin your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit yourrequirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorizedaccess. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cablefrom your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computerand enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login andpassword and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID andEncryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 togenerate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.
Most people use Passphrase which is easier to remember eg. I was born inJanuary 1988.
The strongest and latest security is WPA2, the weakest and oldest is WEP. Toconnect to your wireless router from the computer/laptop, configure thewireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings ieSSID, plus the WPA or WPA2 encryption key. Then computer/laptops cancommunicate with your wireless router.

Changed modems from motorola to a cisco for faser internet. Printer will not link up. It can see the modem and pin has been entered. no connection!

Is the printer is connecting wirelessly, the you may need to redefine it on the printer. There are two possibilities :

If there is a key defined, make sure your printer has the correct key (aka passphrase) defined on it.

If there is no key and it is an Open SSID, then you can go for FACTORY DEFUALT settings on the printer if it not an issue and again configure the settings on the printer.

Also a power cycle can help the printer to re-associate with the new CISCO AP.

I am trying to set up a wireless printer connection. I need to know my SSID and Network key. How do I find this information?

the SSID is the name of your home network. if you dont have a wireless network the printer might not function adhoc. the network key is the password used to connect to your wireless. some devices have the ssid and key listed on the bottom of the router.

I would like to know what an ssid is as i am trying to connect a ds to the internet, i have the wep key

Hello,
the SSID is the name of a wireless network so it is easier to recognize. If you want to make things easy for you to connect to your wireless home network to access the internet with your DS Lite, go to your router configuration. Make sure that the SSID is set to be broadcast or visible. Make the SSID an easy name that you will remember, yet that is not too personal since everyone will be able to see it.
Then start your Nintendo DS and go to the wireless connection configuration. It will start looking for broadcast SSID and will eventually find the one of your network and list it. Select it, enter the WEP when prompted and save the connection.
You should be able to enjoy your internet connection from the DS after that.
Let me know if you encounter any issue.
Regards,

I dont know how to change the SSID Name and WEP Key.

You have to change it in the printer settings, not in the router! Otherwise you'll lose connectivity in all the other computers that use this router.
The SSID is the name you gave to your wireless network, and the WEP key is the password you set for your wireless connection.

What is a ssid and a wep key. I am dumb.

Hi,
SSID is the wireless networks name you want to access.

WEP is a special hexadecimal key to secure your network means if you want to connect a wireless network you will have to put this key.
It will be provided by the admin

Cant browse at a particular place

hi dear

try this

  1. Before you attempt to use any Wi-Fi network, find out what the SSID, Channel, Mode and WEP key are. Some Wi-Fi locations do not require a WEP key. Many Wi-Fi providers have this information on their web site or when you purchase access you will be provided the information.
  2. Ensure you have a firewall program installed and running. This will protect your data.
  3. Start up your laptop and once booted, look for the Wi-Fi network icon in the bottom right of the screen.
  4. Click on the Wifi Connection icon on bottom right of screen and you should see a window that indicates connection, strength and duration. Click on the Properties tab.

  5. wirelessnetworkscreenbl.jpg

  6. The next window will show the type of networking card installed. Click on the Wireless Networks tab.

  7. 02ee437.jpg

  8. Once the Wireless Network Connection Properties window is open you will have two options depending on how you set up your laptop.
    • If you do not see any networks listed in Preferred or Available networks, you will have to manually add the SSID. Click on Add. You will have to enter the SSID and WEP key (if required). Click OK and you should then see the network you just added in the Available networks box.

    • 4d25eb5.jpg

    • If you see the correct SSID showing in the Available Networks, then you need to click on Configure in order to enter the WEP key if that is required.

    92752af.jpg

  9. In the next window, enter the SSID for the Wi-Fi network you want to access. Make sure you do not have CAPS lock or NUM lock while entering the information. If a network key is required, click on "Data Encryption and then enter the Network key you have been provided with. Again make sure you do not have CAPS or NUM lock on. Click OK when entered. If you have entered the key incorrectly a message will pop up and you will need to re-enter the key.

  10. fccfda9.jpg

  11. Next go to Start - and where it says Connect To click on that and you should see choices like in the graphic below. Click on Wireless Network Connection and it should work.

34b0a7b.jpg

There are occasions when the connection doesn't work, in these cases check your firewall software and make sure it allows you to connect to the Wi-Fi network. To check this, disable your firewall software and check the connection again. If you can connect with the firewall program disabled, you change your settings. If your firewall program is not the problem check the SSID and WEP key information that you entered. Both of these are case sensitive. If you had obtained SSID information from the Internet, check with someone in the establishment to see if the SSID has been changed.

oke post in me back

i hope this usefull for you

thanks
