Change the disc motor

Mine had the same problem. I took off the casing and discovered that the disc simply wasn't spinning. I spun it once with my finger, and it took off. Problem solved. It's not elegant, and the DVD player is bound to get dirty without the case on it, but it'll do until I get another one.

I have the same problem with the unit saying 'bad disc' or simply getting stuck in 'loading' mode, even for regular movie dvds. My unit is only three years old - I can't believe the reliability is so bad. I have found, however, if I just keep opening and loading it, after 5 or 6 times it will finally work. If you have the patience for this, at least you can watch your movie!

It sounds like a common problem with these units, which is easily fixed...
Open the unit and look at the capacitors on the power supply circuit board, there are probably some bulging or leaking caps on it, just replace them and you should be good to go. You should replace them with a little higher voltage but keep the same micro-farad value. ie: use a 16volt in place of a 12volt.
