My Xerox 6130 - error message insert black cartridge. I did. Cleaned contacts - no go. New cartridge is Xerox. Lynn

Some 3rd party cartridges are not perfectly manufactured and in many cases you'll need to press firmly (not hard) on the top front of the cartridge to ensure adequated contact is made wih the electronics on the cartridge and your printer.

Error 1203 occurs either when a cartridge is bad or the printer cartridge Slot is bad... I would suggest you to try cleaning the copper contacts of the both carts and cart slot in the printer and try again..

If that doesn't work just call up their support number and check for replacement..

Reset according to manual. One of those HP jokes that might help.
You replaced with an original or 3rd part refill?
These cartridges can't be reset after refill so the error message may indicate something else.

SOURCE: Dell 926 won't recognize new color cartridge

Try this...shut down the printer. Insert new cartridge, let the printer cycle out with new cartridge. then reboot the computer. This should solve the problem. The cache in the printer will not cycle out. It wants to see the printer as a new entity

Hi Anonymous,
I suspect you should have this problem sorted by now.
Looking at the Xerox website says that a replacement printer is available for around £190 that could have worked out cheaper that trying to get this one repaired.

The secretary ordered 3rd party toner cartridges for a Xerox Phaser 6130. After replacing the black cartridge the "invalid cartridge" message comes up. Is there a way that we can use the 3rd...


If you get the "invalid cartridge" message, try completely turning off and unplugging the unit. Then remove the cartridge, close the door and after at least 30 seconds, restart the unit. Then reinstall the cartridge. This worked for me!

I have inserted a new black ink cartridge (34) and get an error message 'left cartridge missing, insert black or colour photo cartridge' have peeled label off and reinserted several times but still...


Make sure you are inserting a genuine Lexmark cartridge. Try to insert a different known working cartridge, maybe your old black cartridge, to determine if your new cartridge is faulty. If inserting your old black cartridge gives you a message saying "very low ink" or something to that effect, then most probably there's something wrong with the new black cartridge. Have it replaced with a new one from the store where you bought it from. You may also contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.

I think your Image Unit is going bad. Order this PN 675K69244...That should solve it.

You hit it! Go out and buy a new cartridge. Most likely you got a bad one.

Black printing is very dull but colors are bright in Phaser 6130

Could the 6125 toner cartridges be used in the 6130?


No they can't ,.thats typical Xerox. Doesn't matter that the same ink is inside, they have to make the cartridge ad chip different. I worked for Xerox for years. Most arrogant company on earth.

The following error message appears on the color graphics display after you insert a cartridge: Remove and Check Print Cartridges . The printer will not print. The message does not specify which cartridge has caused the error. Solution This error message indicates that the printer cannot determine which cartridge is causing the error. Follow the steps below to solve the problem.
  1. Remove the color cartridge from the left stall (which has a blue latch) and refasten the latch. Leave the other cartridge in place.
  2. Close the printer, wait 10 to 15 seconds, then look at the LCD display.
    • If the LCD display reads Insert Color Cartridge in Left Stall , the color cartridge may be causing the problem. Follow the steps below:
      1. Clean the color cartridge contacts.
      2. Reinsert the color cartridge into the carriage and close the blue latch.
      3. Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
      4. If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the color cartridge.
    OR
    • If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , follow the steps below:
      1. Reinsert the color cartridge.
      2. Remove the black or photo cartridge, depending on which one is installed in the right stall. The right stall has the gray latch. Be sure to refasten the latch on the empty stall.
      3. Clean the black or photo cartridge contacts.
      4. Reinsert the black or photo cartridge.
      5. Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
      6. If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the black or photo cartridge.

  1. Remove and then reinsert the cartridge indicated in the error message.
  2. If the error is still displayed, clean the contacts.
    1. If the error message is Error. Remove and Check Black or Photo Cartridge , the following steps may help:
    1. Remove both cartridges, lower the latches, and close the printer access door.
    2. Turn off the unit by pressing the On button on the front panel. Wait for the printer to completely shut down.
    3. Turn the printer back on by pressing the On button.
    4. When the message display reads Insert Print Cartridges , open the access door and replace the cartridges.
    1. If neither of the steps above fixed the problem, either the cartridge or the printer is faulty
