Did you install the software before plugging it into the computer? I would try that first.

I got an ilo mp3 player from a friend, i plug into the computer and computer doesnt recognize device

If the computer is running the Windows Vista operating system, your mp3 player is not compatible with it. If it is running XP, load any software that might have come with the player. Then check all USB ports on the computer. If none of the ports recognize the player, hold in the volume + button while connecting the mp3 player to the computer. Good luck!

ILO PROBLEM

This is the worst mp3 player ever invented - i have to tell you this up front. There is no driver, the company does not support the product anymore - I would return it now while you still can.

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Ilo dies when you connect to pc

It behaves differently when plugged into a PC depending on whether it is switched on or off.

If switched on it will charge the battery. You need to have it switched off when you plug it in to transfer files. It doesn't charge when plugged in switch off though so that's something to watch.

Ilo mp3 red, computer doesnt see it connected

I had a problem with my ilo trying to get it to recognize and i finally switched my cord that i was hooking my mp3 up to my computer with. I dont know what other cords you have, but i used the cord from my husbands Creative brand mp3 player and it worked. I open it with the E drive file in the my computer link. From there, it'll say ilo and that will allow you to access it on your computer. Windows media also recognizes the ilo.
I hope this was helpful!

I had the same problem but on different computers, home works great, office won't detect it.
Try using some other computer just to see if it the players fault.
