Question about Toshiba NB205-N210 Netbook

1 Answer

My Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 would not turn on intermittenly for about a week. Now it won't turn on at all. The fan comes on for about 3 seconds and then goes off. The power button stays lit but there is nothing on the screen and no other sounds

Base from the description of your problem this can be a issue with a motherboard failure or processor failure that can be cause by overheating.

What you can do here is to open the laptop and then take the RAM out and also check for any burn sign on your motherboard and also clean the golden teeth of the ram and put it back in and check if still same problem. Because if still same problem this is a clear sign of motherboard failure.

Thank you for this solution! I have been experiencing the same problem with my nb205 which was bought in August 2010. I've been trying to contact Toshiba regarding the warranty but no success. I live in Trinidad (my mum bought the netbook in Canada), know that I know what may be the problem, I will have it checked out here

How to get to toshiba nb205 bios

Hold down the Esc key and press and hold the power button until the on/off light on the system indicator panel illuminates (green) for approximately one second. When the following message appears on the screen: "Check system, Then press [F1] key," press F1. The System Setup screen appears.

If that doesn't work, try powering on the laptop and when the Toshiba splash screen comes up, hit F2 or F12.

One of these methods will get you in to the BIOS setup.

My toshiba nb 305 wont start up, do you have any idea why? i was typing when suddenly it turn off, i tried to to turn it on but only the "on" button will power up but the screen wont start. after...

Try to do the following:

1. Remove the battery
2. Press and Hold the power button for 20secs (this will drain the power out of the computer)
3. Insert the AC adapter and turn the unit ON

If the above procedure won't work, this is a sign that the computer's motherboard might have gone bad and you need to have the unit serviced. If you're still under warranty, call 1-800-457-7777 (for US) and 1-800-663-0378 (for Canada).

Good luck.

I got toshiba nb205 as i get error A PROBLEM WITH COOLING SYSTEM HAS BEEN DETECTED RETURN IT FOR SERVICE IMMEDIATLY i get its fan changed now its fan is in running condition and i am also using cooling pad...

hmmm, you could try booting into bios (hitting del key at bootup) and see what the internal temp readings are. Laptops have tricky cooling schemes that usually rely on one fan and heat pipes. If I were you I would backup my data and take it to a qualified laptop repair shop.

I've had Toshiba Netbook NB-205 for a year, and the display won't show. The fan will come on for a like two seconds and then cut off. If I need to replace the fan, then I'm fine with that, but if there's...

Try removing the battery and starting it up with only AC power.

Sometimes it doesn't charge properly and will turn off after a second. Removing the battery will sometimes fix this.

Make sure you are getting charge lights as well. If the AC adapter isn't working anymore, it can cause exactly what you're experiencing.

Please leave feedback if you found this helpful. Thanks.

Tosheiba Netbook NB205-N210 2 GIG, upgrade to Windows 7

I personally have not but if you are concerned how it will run, you should be fine, windows 7 is very efficent on resources.
  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
These are system specs so if you exceed these then your laptop will run great.

    Hope this helps
