The drum on my dyrer quit turning

Possible problem may be broken belt or misaligned door switch. Try carefully holding the door switch closed to see if the dryer starts. If the dryer turns while manually pressing the door switch, but not when the door is closed, then the switch is misaligned. Make switch alignment to fix.

MODEL FDE7970EWI

Hello, first thing click this link or copy and paste the link to your browser http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Frigidaire-Parts/Dryer-Parts/Model-FDE7970EW1/1428/0151200?searchedModel=FDE7970EWI&blt=11
this is the complete schematic to your dryer this is also the wiring schematic for the unit as well http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_png/PLDM/Y2704409-00006.png
One of the first things that you would check would be the door switch in the unit which if there was a fault with the door switch the unit would not turn on. By looking at the wiring diagram your unit also has a motor switch as well which if the motor switch is not depressed due to a faulty switch or the belt has broken then this could also be why your unit is not spining as well. After you check these two areas if you find both these mentioned parts are functioning properly message me back for further diagnosis. I await your reply
Thank you
Rick

Dyer will not turn on. Can hole the starter button in and dryer will run. remove and the dryer will stop running. When holding the start button the dryer does not heat. Any Idea's as to what may be...

broken belt or broken broken belt switch most likely. Open the door. Hold in the door switch and push the start button. Does the drum turn? If it does turn then the broken belt micro switch is where I would look first. If the drum don't turn of course I would replace the broken belt.
The only Kenmore dryer that has a broken belt switch is the 4 wheel drive model. Here is a video which shows how to get into this dryer and replace the belt:

Hello all, My MDE7500AYW Maytag Neptune Dryer was working today and just quit. It is plugged in and the drum light works when the door is open, close the door and nothing. No LCD display, no...

looking at schematics looks like you main control board is the faulty part. you have done a very good job of tracing the voltages from the source. been that all voltages are present and door switch is good the part left is the control board. here is the part# 33002886. you can find it at sears website or service center.

good luck to you.

Drum keeps turning when dryer door is opemed

There is a door switch which cuts off the dryer when the door is opened. This switch is malfunctioning -- may be loose, or broken, or just plain stuck. Look around the rim of the door -- you'll see the switch -- there is a "post" on the door which engages this switch when the door is closed.

Bought new timer for Prodigy but thought i set the wires from the old timer in proper sequence but doesnt work so maybe wrong wires on wrong terminals

Look at the wires. They have markings on them that match the markings on the timer. Did you check the Non-resetable limit? If it is open the dryer will not run.89819b0.jpg

Dryer just stop working

HI, check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

4. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

**The most common issue here will be a defective Thermal fuse

look at your schematic to make sure that you are jumping the right pair of wires. Yes, it should work if you jumper the door switch
