Make sure that you are not using a light extension cord (use a heavy 12 gauge cord) as it will starve the motor for voltage. Hopefully, there are no contaminants in the hydraulic oil which could cause the pump to bind up at times. Worst case is if the motor bearings are going bad. Hope this helps!

My kohler engine on my oregon log splitter will start but will only run for about 1 minute before cutting off

I had a similar problem (only not with a log splitter). The problem was that the fuel filter was clogged. When the motor was off, the dirt would fall down to the lower side of the filter, allowing fuel to pass until the fuel was flowing again. It may not be your answer but it's an easy and low-cost fix. Best of luck!

Adding hydrolic oil to yardworks 4-ton wood spliter

Replace the Hydraulic oil in the log splitter after
every 150 hours of use. Take following steps to
replace it.
  1. Make sure all moving parts stops and the log splitter is unplugged.
  2. Unscrew Oil Drain Bolt with Dipstick to remove it.
  3. Turn the log splitter on the Support Leg side over an 4 liters capacity container to drain the hydraulic oil off.
  4. Turn the log splitter on the the motor side.
  5. Refill fresh hydraulic oil at the volume as per the hydraulic oil capacity of a particular model indicated in above specifications table.
  6. Clean the surface of Dipstick on the Oil Drain Bolt and put it back into the oil tank while keep the log splitter vertically.
  7. Make sure the level of the refilled oil is just between 2 grooves around the Dipstick.
  8. Clean the Oil Drain Bolt before thread them back. Make sure they are tightened to avoid leakage before place the log splitter horizontally.
Periodically check oil level to ensure it is between
2 grooves around the Dipstick. Upon Lower oil
level, oil refilling is required.

Electric log splitter motor hums but won't run

suggest you get information on repairing log splitter, not dryer. have the same problem, and no replacement parts available. must be in the electrical, easiest would be capacitor, less the motor itself, take apart and see if windings burned, or smell electrical

TITON PRO 370 is the substitute capacitor you need. It is the only one that will fit in the switch box. (TRC60)

Ryobi electric log splitter won't return to startposautomaticaly

We have one of these splitters and the only problem has been a control valve sticking down. Oiled the valve button with silicon oil which seems to have helped. Be sure to close the bleeder valve when putting the machine away. We bought the machine from Home Depot. Use some headphones for your music! We have split rounds much larger than recommended by splitting from different sides. Hope this helps!

Splitter (2 years old) motor won't shut off.

First of all, I hate to, but have to ask, have you verified oil level is up to proper level? Have you checked power at directional solenoid when handle is moved to different directions, as well as released? Obviously when handle is in stop position, there shouldn't be power to motor in either direction. I can't see exact model, or design obviously, but that would be a good place to start.

Was just curious if the 4ton 2hp electric wood splitter was 110 or 220...hopefully 110 as I just ordered it for hubby!

Hi,
Sorry but I think it will be a 220V motor.
They do not advertise the voltage very well and I had to do some digging to find that the motor pulls 12.5 maps which would make it a 220 v motor. At 110v a 2 Hp motor would be pulling 20 amps or more which would still make it too much for most household circuits.
Running a new line for your splitter should not be a big project for most electrictians... Also if your husband has a gas generator most of them will run that splitter and then it would be portable...! Just load up the generator and the splitter and he can split anywhere...
