Assuming that the chuck has no gear teeth for a chuck key, put a leather glove on one hand, grasp the outer chuck case with drill set for reverse, and apply power which should loosen the chuck. Normally, you just grasp the outer chuck and turn it in a CW (looking at it from the handle end) direction to loosen. Hope this helps!

How to replace brushes in de walt drill

If you are mechanically inclined it isn't too hard. If you already have the replacement brushes then it should take about 15 minutes to replace. Be sure and replace both and not just one brush. Be careful with the new ones as they can be a bit brittle. Check youtube to watch people change out brushes. Most drills work the same way.

Can't engage drill or hammer settings on de walt dc 925 xrp

Try turning the ring to 2 or 3 and run the drill holding the chuck so the clutch slips then try turning it to drill setting. Also try to do it in different speed settings. If not it sounds like a fault in the gear module. It might just be a metal clip just under the clip in side. Undo the 4 screws holding the gearbox onto the housing and carefully remove it, you might see the fault or loads of dirt that needs cleaning. Good battery but drill won't run

Push the battery in and out while pressing the trigger on the the drill to see if there is a loose connection here.
Check the terminals inside the drill and the battery terminals .These sometimes become tarnished and don't make contact. Clean with very fine sandpaper.

Drill chuck stok in the thigt possition cant get the bit out ; cant make de chuck to open or close

Sometimes this happens when you have a drill bit that slip. Take a pair of channel lock pliers, and try and turn the chuck counter clockwise. Do it sharply so the drill doesn't turn. IF that still doesn't work put the drill in reverse and try the channel locks again

How to remove a chuck from a DeWalt hand drill

Open chuck all the way (like for a large drill bit). There should be a set screw at the bottom (where you would put a drill bit). Don't turn too hard - it may be a left handed screw (I don't remember if it is a lefty for sure but try gently each way then with a bit more force each way until it moves).

Good luck.

Drill Is Dead Fuse O.K.

Check the brushes for wear.
Most likely the cord has a broken wire , usually happens close to the handle of the drill.
To test, split the case ( puzzle screwdriver bits are avaliable from hobby shops ) and run a test light on the cord from the plug to the switch.
If the cord is ok , test the switch , they are quite flimsy on De Walt tools so be careful.
If the cord is faulty cut the damaged section out and shorten it.
If the switch, replace it . Check price, they are very hard to get here in New Zealand and very expensive.
If the Brushes, these should be avaliable from your De Walt retailer.
While you have your drill apart, check the bearings, De Walt uses common sizes, easily avaliable from a bearing shop and prone to seizing up and burning out the armature.
