Of course. Though I'd remove the memory card. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

How can I download pictures from my Internal Memory from my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W100 to my computer?

Two options: If you normally transfer your pictures by connecting your camera to your computer, remove the memory stick from the camera before making the connection.

Alternatively, if you use a card reader to transfer the pictures directly from the memory stick, use the "Copy" command in the "Memory Stick Tool" submenu to copy the pictures from the internal memory to the memory stick. The Memory Stick Tool and the Copy command are described in the "Memory Stick Tool" section of the manual (beginning on page 53 in my copy). If you need a manual, you may download a copy from here.

No memory space on Memory stick, can I download all the photos to my computer and use the same memory stick? How do I do this? Thanks.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card (or stick) from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire).

Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Once you have the pictures safely on your computer, you can clear the card and reuse it. The best way to do that is to format the card. This is better than simply deleting the pictures. FixYa is full of people asking how to salvage pictures on cards that haven't been formatted recently.

I'm afraid I can't tell you exactly how to format the card without knowing the model of your camera. Look in the Setup menu for the format command, or consult the manual.

I have transfered some pictures from my memory stick but i have a problem with transferring pictures from the internal memory to my memory stick.

Please clarify: from where to where did you transfer and you wish to transfer? Are you using a USB cable from the camera to the computer? Do you mean the memory card that fits inside the camera?

If you mean transfer photos from the camera via the computer to a memory stick, then the problem may be solved in two steps: First download the photos to your computer. Then from the computer to the stick.

Have Pentax Optio H90 digital-when dowloading picture to my computer should I or do I leave in the memory stick and battery?

Yes, leave them in. The only reason to take out the memory stick is if you have pictures stored in the camera's internal memory that you want to access instead of those on the stick.

After slideshow memory stick is missing photos (not on computer)

If you put the memory stick back into the camera can you see them thru the camera menu? If so your computer's SD card port may be having issues. try using the card in another computer or use the cameras USB cable to transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer if it has one. Do other memory sticks work in the computer ok? If you cannot see them in the camera either then the pictures will be corrupted and probably cannot be recovered. Then the card will need to be formatted to erase any errors on the card. Always use the camera to format a card whenever possible...Hope that helps.

Computer won't read memory stick

SCMG - You won't be inserting it into your modem. But if the card fits snuggly and it seems to fit right, then you're probably where you need to be.

For all of you - it may be easier to connect the camera directly to the computer to download the pictures. All cameras come with the appropriate cable to connect the camera to a USB port. All you need to do is make the connection and then put the camera into "review" mode to view the pictures and Windows should automatically see the camera and ask if you want to download the pictures off of it.
