Question about CyberPower 525SL (CPS525SL) UPS System

Power keeps going on and off

When I turn on my UPS (Cyberpower CPS575SL) it turns on and then in a couple of seconds beeps and turns off again, then a second later it beejps again and turns on, then beeps and turns off. It just keeps doing this. There is no power outage, wiring fault light is not on & the cord is plugged in to the wall outlet. I have plugged it into another outlet and it is still the same. Does the battery need to be replaced or what?

Thank you for your help

I happens exactly the same to me too...can't understand why. Was trying to leave it for up to half hour unplugged, hoping for some kind of reset - but nothing could help.

Thanks for your help guys, I guess I'll have to buy a new UPS since they don't sell replacement batteries where I live.

I have the same problem.
It is most likely the battery.
I tested my battery on a Shumacher trickle charger, and the battery wouldn't hold a charge.
This is a common problem with UPS systems that use sealed lead acid batteries.
The longest life that you can expect with these types of batteries is 5 years MAX.
The battery can be replaced with a Radio Shack 12V/7200mAh Lead-Acid Battery
Model: CNB-GP1270F2 | Catalog #: 23-9030
Here is the link for the UPS users manual.
http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/user-manuals/CP550SL_UM.pdf
To replace battery, (unplug AC cord), turn the UPS upside down on floor or workbench.
Remove the 6 deeply recessed phillips screws, then pull the bottom off.
Remove the wire leads from the old battery (pull on the connectors, not the wires). Install new battery (red wire to red or + sign) and replace the bottom and screws. Careful, tighten the screws finger tight (plastic strips easily).
Plug in UPS and you should be good to go.
Hope this helps

Yep, that sounds like a battery that needs to be replaced. Here's the original battery used in that unit: http://www.batteryinternational.com/cyber-power-cps525sl-ups-battery-ups-batteries-f1.html

E-MAIL I RECEIVED FROM CYBERPOWER:

There is no other known cause of the cycling on/off behavior aside from a bad battery. IT is possible that some component of the battery relay or inverter has failed. If this is the case it would not be repairable outside of warranty.

Cyber power 685 avr won't reset

Hi Marvin,

If the unit took a hit to it you should check to see if the battery is still good. It may not function properly because of a dead battery.

I have a CyberPower 725SL UPS. Shortly after turning it on, it will beep as if AC power was lost and the green light goes out. I checked the battery and it's good. I'm assuming something went bad with...

Couple different items to check.
  • Try letting the unit set ideal for overnight charging the battery. Do not even turn the unit on.
  • Replace the battery.
If you turn the unit on when the battery is plugged in and does not keep a charge you can almost be sure it is the battery or the charging circuit not maintaining the battery.

did you leave it plugged in to let it charge? ups's will beep continuosly till they are charged, if it has dead battery packs inside, it will continue to beep because there is no battery charge to support its job. leave it plugged in for 2 hours. if it doesnot stop beeping, toss it and get a new ups

Cyberpower 525L, power light blinking, beeping. will not run cpu, runs all other devices plugged to it.

525L series as very matter that cause to emliminte the problem try this matters lst.

step1 the power is 300watts -/+ any power supply that above the usage will be overload maybe thats the problem when your cpu & does't power. what are the devices that u plug it to the ups? it important what the devices u plug in maybe using high watts for eg printer, scanner and fax mechines. the solution unplug out those not important device and plug your cpu to test and see it work? and also the socket you plug it in from th cpu, try to plug one of the device to test and see if the power socket is working.

step2 or could be the battery problem juz change the battery and test it up. here are the below website what are the spec of the battery.
http://www.batteries.com/index.asp?N=4294960483+4294958897+4294957694&Ne=25&Nu=p%5Fprodcode

step3: if all this step 1 and 2 does't work it could be the socket from the ups is faulty, ask for the vedor to check your ups if it need?

Cbyer power 525Sl keeps turning off and on and beeps.

I have the exact same issue with my 525SL.
When you push in the red button - the green power light comes on for about 5 seconds = then the light goes out and the device plays a single long beep for about 5-8 seconds.

Given the dialogue here - I took out the battery and bough a brand new BB replacement battery and returned it into the unit as it should. The device continues to have the same behavior.

So it is NOT always a new battery that will fix the system.
Don't jump into spending $30.00 for a replacement.
Look into this further or you'll wind up wasting your money.
