I ask you of my broke ilo DVD Recorder, it do not read any DVD ,If it is make or buy. Please give a list of Company who can fit it. You said do not sent the DVD recorder off to anyone, so how do I get it fit. Thank You.

Try another brand of blank dvd's a -R or +R as this is a compatibly issue

If all else fails buy verbatims as they are universal

This unit only uses DVD +R or +RW. I have found the Maxell works the best with mine.

According to www.dvdrhelp.com that this unit is very picky on what discs it will record on. Look up unit and read the large number of reviews in DVD Recorder section

It sounds like you got a bad reciever or the setting on the meuy of it it wrong!

try cleaning the laser either manually by taking off the top cover then using a wet q tip then a dry q tip to abrorb excess moisture, or buy a laser cleaning disc imo is that manually is more beneficial

Depends on your specific problems. I have had one of each models MU1, MU2 and ZU. Each one is different. See label on bottom. The best one is MU1 MU2 seemed to get a blur or moving effect upon playback. Zu is better for taping live tv. I love my MU1.I had a Lite on DVD recorder that didn't last long at all. I use ONlY SONY discs or Rewriteables and do fairly well. I am trying to find a non existent universal remote for it. Why didnt' they put more buttons on the front??? Useless without a remote. If its broke, its broken. I heard the company is no longer operating so forget it.

your dvd writer is bad, because there is not enough air in side the box. it over heated, the fan inside is not big enough. you are one of the lucky ones, if yours even lasted a year. i had 4 go bad on me in six mouths returned to walmart and replaced them.open up your box and unplug the strap from the player and the power line from the back of the dvd recorder. if you have a computor the power and strap hook up the same.way. what you need to do, is order a dvd recorder on- line,a 8 speed and 20 speed will not work. it has to be a 16 speed dvd recorder.and a dual layer chould help. i got mine from sams it was a 16 speed LG internal super multi dvd/cd rewriter, but i think all they carry now is a 20 speed.if you get one, i would just leave the old one in ilo. and do a little carving on the back of the ilo caseing to run the strap and power cord through and ontop of the ilo. just sit the new recorder on top of the ilo it may not look good sitting there but it will last a lot longer that way i went through about 200 different brands of dvds before i found out what was wrong with mine good luck i hope you get it fixed. e-mail me if you have any quistens.thanks ronpar

I finally found one that at least worked for the main features. It is a Philips URC from Walmart SRU3004. The guy there said Philips ones run the Ilo. After returning MANY ones that didn't work, I really didn't believe him but he was right. Its not the code listed, you have to do the manual search and it is like the 300th push on the power button so don't give up too soon. The input button operates the Source and the sleep button will get you into the record settings. you have to figure it out but allows you to actually use the unit. It is worthless without a remote. This remote actually works my tv, other dvd and home surround too.

Go to the company web site to update the firmware. Call the 800 number and ask if your unit needs to only use their disk.
