Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

Why is my camera taking picture in reverse through the viewfinder?

This sounds like a mechanical problem inside the camera. If it has a flip-up mirror behind the lens, for example, the mirror may be stuck in the up position. Have it serviced by a qualified technician.

Hi. my problem with my camera is that my niece play with it and she pushed the lens mechanism while the camera is on. now, the lens was stuck and doesn't comes out anymore. when i'm turning on

Force it out like it was forced in. Try to rotate the lens. Remember it has to be off. As soon as the lens is half way out, turn the camara on and the lens will go to its position. If not, while the lens is out turn it left or right until it's back to its position.
Good luck.

Lens error, restart camera

i had the the same lens error restart camera problem for almost a month.  If you haven't already, try restarting the camera with the sd1000 in the view pictures setting.  This may allow the lens to retract into position. Next, with the lens extracted, try looking down on the camera from the top to see if the lens is angled downward in any way.  If it is, this means it is jammed into place on one side.  Simply use your fingers to slightly push the lens into proper position.  If you hear a pop, you should be in business! hope this helps!

Camera lens stuck

Look at some of my posts today.
This may be that the lens is off track and may be able to be pushed back by a little force as you start the camera....see my other posts on this problem.
