Question about Nikon D3000 Digital Camera

Open Question

The flash on my Nikon D3000 won't pop up (regardless of the setting) and when I go into "Shoot" (from the guide menue) and then into "Easy Operation" the camera is set at No Flash but I'm not given the option to change the setting and says "The camera is now on "Auto No Flash Mode" but doesn't give me an option to change the setting there either. Can you help?

SOURCE: how to remove the battery from nikon d3000

the little trap door on the bottom houses both the memory card and the battery. you have to push the battery slightly to release it. i fond the easiest way at that point is to tip the camera and the battery usually slides right out.

The Nikon D3000 does not have a Live View mode that allows you to see what you're going to shoot in the LCD screen. If you thought you saw something, my best guess is that you were mistaken.

Nikon D3100 won't flash

If you have set the main dial to the green camera logo, with automatic in bad light, and the flash still does not pop up, you could start worrying. The mail mode dial is very easy to turn, even without knowing. It happens to me more often than I would like. My next camera must have a special button to lock this dial.
When you chaco the manual, you will see there are settings the flash won't pop up and even when it is up it won't flash, because that menu excludes the flash.

How do i set it so it will shoot 3fps

You can do this in continues mode go here

You set this at:

MENU > CAMERA > Release mode > Continuous > OK.
You get one shot with one press of the shutter button BUT, if you hold the shutter button down you get 3 frames per second.

Which book would be best for a beginner w/ the D3000 to learn the camera

There are a lot of good books. What's best for you would depend on many factors, including how much experience you have or don't have with photography in general and with other Nikons or SLRs.

Below are some recommendations. You might want to browse through a good bookstore and take a look at some of them.

David Busch, "David Busch's Nikon D3000 Guide to Digital SLR Photography"

Julie Adair King, "Nikon D3000 For Dummies"

Jeff Revell, "Nikon D3000 : From Snapshots to Great Shots"

Jon Sparks, "Nikon D3000: the Expanded Guide"

J. Dennis Thomas, "Nikon D3000 Digital Field Guide"

Darrell Young, "Mastering the Nikon D3000"

In addition, there is a free video tutorial on Nikon's web site:

I have a new D3000 and a nikon SB-600 flash. I

From the Nikon site, do you have one of these flash units.
Support for the Nikon Creative Lighting System when using SB-900, SB-600, or SB-400 Speedlights, or the SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander
If so You set the flash mode to "comander" the pop up flash must be UP

This Video by Nikon shows how but you will have to read the manual to get a full description go to the flash section http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/d300s/index.html

Then look at them all :)

D3000 flash does not want to pop up...acts like its stuck...just purchased Saturday

In what mode(s)? In any of the point&shoot modes the camera will pop up the flash if it decides it needs it. You can only pop it up yourself in the PSAM modes.

Nikon D3000 Monitor is black when taking a picture - any way to change it?

You can get the shooting information on it. If you're looking to use the D3000 as a point&shoot by viewing the image on the screen, then no, you have to use the viewfinder.
