the little trap door on the bottom houses both the memory card and the battery. you have to push the battery slightly to release it. i fond the easiest way at that point is to tip the camera and the battery usually slides right out.

The Nikon D3000 does not have a Live View mode that allows you to see what you're going to shoot in the LCD screen. If you thought you saw something, my best guess is that you were mistaken.

which option do you choose? AUTO, S, P, A, or M?
you can easily make the flash popped at S, P, A, M option by pressing the button near the lens, indicates with FLASH icon

Tips for a great answer:

You set this at:
MENU > CAMERA > Release mode > Continuous > OK.
You get one shot with one press of the shutter button BUT, if you hold the shutter button down you get 3 frames per second.
