You can only do this on certain netbooks, you need to have the image already on your harddrive,,on my netbook its F9 whilst booting (every other boot)
so goto manufacturers site and find out how to do this.
also just as a side note if you take the battery out on the hp mini, some models have a 3g modem built in there might be a little slot for a sim card ,on the extreme left hand side within the battery compartment--good luck!

OK try this, when dell screen comes up on keyboard hit CTRL+ F11 twice only then you will see Dell pc restore by Symantec.Hit on restore and hit on i agree and select the option Restore the pc to Dell factory settings and then it will restore the pc
Otherwise, you will have to use a Windows DVD and boot on it. Perform a "Repair" Install. OR if that will not work, reformat and reinstall.

to avoid this, you need to run system restore on your system.

Restart your system and press "F11"

The system will begin the restore after you press F11. Just follow instructions and your system would be restored.

Dell computer system restore control F11

Dells do not have the 'control' F11 function to recover the OS, you need to boot it from a 'recovery CD', if you do not have one, go to and you can ask for a copy, they will ask you for the service tag of your computer (have it handly).

I need to do a full system restore and am not sure which file number to use. (F10 or F11 etc.)

To do a complete PC restore to take the PC back to its factory defaults the press F11 or Ctrl+F11.
This will start the PC restore but please note that you will lose all the data and softwares you have in the system.
