Ive just installed a new door kit onto my fisher and paykel de45f56a dryer. It has never had a door as it was cracked when purchased so the dryer has never been started. I have now fitted the door however...

yes, double check the switch first. it sounds like the motor is not even moving, since the dryer was never used before sometimes there is a "tab" or locking mechanism to keep the tumbler form moving during shipping.

Is it possible to reverse door swing on dryer? My daughter has a new Elite front load dryer that swings from left.

REVERSING DOOR SWING
Your dryer is designed so the door swing may be reversed at any time without additional parts. Conversion is accomplished by transferring hinges to the opposite side of the cabinet.
To change the direction of the door opening:
1. Open the dryer door. Remove the four hinge hole plugs from the left side of the door opening. Place nearby for future installation. NOTE: You may need a plastic knife to help pull out the plugs. Be careful not to scratch the paint.

2. Remove the four screws that secure the door hinges to the dryer front panel (see below). NOTE: Remove one screw from each of the two hinges first. Hold the door firmly before removing the last two screws.

3. Rotate the door 180° and reinstall the door hinges to the dryer front panel with the four screws.

4. Install the four hinge hole plugs in the open screw holes on the right side of the door opening.

Hope this helped Tim

Kenmore 90 series gas dryer - motor not running

Trace the wiring all the way to the motor through the door switch, timer, etc. Also do this test: If you hear the motor hum (even a little bit) but not run, your starter switch on the motor is fried. This is a replaceable item. (This switch also turns on the heating element.) . Dryers have the peculiar problem with corroded contacts in gang plugs or other plugs. Best thing you could do is unplug and plug them several times then smather some contact grease on each contact. This will eliminate this pesky problem in the future.

Dryer turns on when botton held down

Motor has a "Run" winding centrifugal switch that may need to be replaced. Start button energizes the starter winding but when the "run" switch fails the motor won't keep running. Switch is easily replaced without taking motor apart.

Whirlpool dryer LER5636PQ0 push to start keeps failing to work

You could have a worn door switch . Push in on the plastic piece which closing the door actuates and press the start botton . If it starts ,several times , then replace the door switch . Pt # 3406107 . Do this after you put the 2 thermal fuse (slim white piece with 2 wires attached )wires togather for testing purposes only . BE sure to unplug dryer before doing ANY repair testing first ! If it starts by jumping the wires , then pt # 3392519 fot thermal fuse .

Starting botton does not work

If it is whirlpool--Make sure it has power. Then:Check the door switch. A little lever sticking down through top right of door opening. If it is not there you will need new door switch(sometimes the little lever breaks off). If it is there and does not click when you press it in you need a new door switch. if it clicks when you close the door then you have a bad thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is found by taking the back of the dryer off. The fuse is an oblong white plastic piece with 2 wires attached.

Door switch part number 3406109
Thermal fuse part number 3392519
