Install bootcamp. It is the certified parallel for the dual core. If you already have it installed, try installing XP again, or Vista.

I thought I had installed Parallel 11 on my Mac Book correctly, but I don't know how to open it and get it to work

When you double click the Parallels app in Applications (or wherever you directed it to be installed, you should see a windows appear as shown in the attached photos.

Your Control Center will look a little different the first time around and will allow you to either select an image from their store or point to an image on your system (can be local, a USB drive or any other external storage device that has an installable image).

Follow the instructions Parallels provides.

How to run MS Windows on a MAC computer?

Hi guys,

Today I will show you how to run the Windows operating system on your mac laptop or desktop.

Step 1:
It is a simple process but will require some software which you will need to download and please make sure you have enough storage minimum should be 6 GB for the windows setup to install otherwise it will NOT work.

Step 2:
Ok first of all you will need to install Parallels Desktop which works like VM-Ware but it is for MAC so its different it ritualizes both of the OS so you can choose to use both on your mac without the need of Boot Camp.

Step 3:
It is very simple you will just need the Windows ISO file or a disc copy. Than what you will need is Parallels that you can get from the following site: http://pctrickstips.com/download-parallels-desktop-11-for-mac-full-free/

It supports both x86 and x64 environments so do not worry about anything else if you need any further help ping me up and I will be more than happy to help.

Happy Virtualisation ;)

How do you fix a Windows XP VHD within a Parallels environment?

Critical data can be extracted with the help of a tech by removing the Hard Drive and transferring it to a CD or DVD. Not being able to boot up can be the result of any number of possible problems, but you CAN get your data. Hope this is not too discouraging for you?

Need to boot win xp

You posted in the Mac Laptop forum.
Maybe you should re-post in the right forum. I'm going to assume you are not running parallels or equivalent.

You can check out Parallels or VMWare Fusion which will allow you to run Windows & OSX side-by-side.

Tap feature on MAcbook 2.4Ghz 2GB

I am running mac OS 10.5.5 and Win XP using parallels.  You need to make sure the system preferences in the mac OS to allow two fingers for secondary click using the trackpad. This allows you to right click in Win XP.
I find using two fingers and clicking the button works more reliably in windows xp.  I usually have to try two finger tapping a few times.

To right click by tapping: Go to System Preferences and choose Keyboard & Mouse.  Select "Clicking" and "Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click". This allows you to tap the trackpad with two fingers side by side to get the "right click" effect.  You can also right click without tapping with this setting.

To right click without tapping:
Go to System Preferences and choose Keyboard & Mouse.  Select "For secondary clicks, place two fingers on the trackpad then click the button". This allows you to right click by placing two fingers on the trackpad and then clicking the mouse button. 0acf97a.png

How i install window xp in macbook with preinstalled os x

Boot camp and/ or Parallels. You need software to create a virtual, bootable partition. The version of windows you install cannot be OEM, or a transferred license. I would recommend LINUX instead of windows XP. It's free and stable and like OS X, based on UNIX.

If you purchase a program called Boot Camp, VMWare Fusion, or Parallels you can load both XP and OSX to run dually or separate.

Hi toy4runner,

Did you check the permissions of the folders that need to be openend by parallels to get to the file? (just select the folders one by one and for ech of them press apple - I and check the permissions section of the information pane. Chnaces are Parallels is trying to access a folder but doesn't have the right permission.
If all seems okay, check this:

Parrallels

I would suggest you look in to Apple's Bootcamp. Although you do not want to run in a dual-boot configuration, Bootcamp allows you to create a CD with all of the Mac's windows drivers.

I appologize but I am not totally sure if 1) the Bootcamp drivers contain a camera driver and 2) if the camera works at all within Parallels.

Worth a shot though.
