I want my PC to make a sound when I receive a text message or email. I have a dell PC windows7 & am useing gmail. on firefox.

Click Start/Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound/Sounds and scroll down and select new mail notification. Highlight New mail notification and click Test, then click OK.

Also check you email client (the program you use the get your emails (aol, yahoo, gmail, etc.) and see if they have settings in them for notifications, most do.

Check the software you use to get text messages for settings on notifications to get sounds or alerts when a text message comes.

Hi

When you hit the power key also hit the F11 key keep pressing it until you get into the
recovery box

then follow on screen instructions

please back up all you files or pictures ist onto a disc or pendrive
because if you take it back to factory settings you will loose everything that you have put onto the

Keyboard issue

which operating system is installed?

in windows xp, go to Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Languages Tab
click Details

Under Installed services, the combinations of language and keyboard settings, currently available are listed.
The bold items are the active language, and the bold sub-item is the selected keyboard setting.
To add a new setting, click add and select the desired language and keyboard setting. I don't know which keyboard setting you need/want. Depends on where you live.
Also delete the keyboard layouts and languages, which you don't need.

A nice keyboard shortcut to change to another keyboard layout and language, is Left Alt+Shift. This switches to the next item in the list.

Sudden Shutdown/Hibernate

right click anywhere on an empty space on desktop and click on properties in the menu ( or go to control panel and double click on display).

Now in the display property windows click  on screen saver and then click on power at the bottom right.

you will then get the power schemes option where you can change the settings for hibernation , standby etc, adjust it such that your system never hibernates automatically.
