What is the model number of Linksys router. Connect the computer to the router and open the setup page of the router. Go to Administration tab. There you will find the option to enable UPnP on the router.
User is blank (left empty), admin is the password (when the Linksys is in default factory condition). Find MTU and change to manual and set to 1500 for broadband. Also, according to linksys, uPNP may not be compatible, so you may want to turn that off. Go to this link on Linksys to get a step-by-step setup for linksys routers and Xbox live. Also, pay special attention to section ii about upgrading your firmware to the latest version.
If your Linksys is still in its factory condition, admin is the Password, leave the user blank. However, the issue may be the firmware version according to the Linksys site. Go to this link and follow the procedures for setting up your Linksys router and pay special attention to section ii and follow the link provided to ensure your firmware is up to date. If you don't want to update the firmware, then turn off uPNP and change the MTU setting to manual and 1500.
If you use DSL I would also check to make sure you are not being port blocked by your ISP. Some will block you if you exceed bandwidth on a particular port rather than throttling you or shutting you down entirely.
