Question about Fedders AED24E7F Wall/Window Air Conditioner

Open Question

My air conditioner doesn't blow out any air.

When you turn the air conditioner on you can here the compressor running but there is no air coming out and the fan is not running. The compressor sounds weak sometimes. Or what I think is the compressor. Same problem. Window unit. Sounds like the compressor works but not the fan. I followed the manufacturer's troubleshooting guide that said to unplug it and plug it back in and then to try resetting the circuit breaker. Unplugging it didn't do anything but resetting the circuit breaker did. The fan sounded like it kicked in and was about to run then made a pop sound and I could smell a burning smell. I unplugged it from the wall. What do you think?

SOURCE: My air conditioner doesn't blow out any air.

If this is a central air unit & you\'re talking about the fan on the outide of the house the problem may be that you are only getting 110 volts to the system side of the contactor. If you have the tools & know how you can check this yourself. If not, time to call a repairman.

SOURCE: Air conditioner will not keep running

Any one with a window; these units must be cleaned at least yearly.First off, there is a filter in the front below where the cold air comes out, inside the intake grill(where the room air goes back into the unit.) it should slide out. Second the unit has another coil at the rear of the unit. The rear coil is hard to clean, but is possible.Check if warm air is going out at the rear.If not unit housing must come off to clean rear coil properly. After a year ,or two this problem will very probably blow the compressor. You should be able to call a few A.C. companies and see if they clean windows A.C. units.

Can you hear the compressor starting? If so, suspect broken pipework and loss of refrigerant. If not, suspect loose wire to compressor or thermostat

Ive owned the 10x6c for 2 years never used it because of my wiring doesn't have a ground,,let my neighbor borrow it and it doesn't blow cool air I hear the compressor turn on but no cool air?

If the compressor is coming on and the air is not cold, it could be that the freon has leaked out. Easiest way to check for no freon is to take the cover off the unit and run it in cool. The high side which is the smaller line coming into the top of the compressor should be hot, and the low side which is the large line coming off the side of the compressor should be cold when the compressor is running. If there is no temperature difference between the high side and low side tubing, you have no freon. Also check for oil residue once you have the cover off. If you spot oil, you had a leak and have no freon.

I can hear the air compressor come on but doesn't blow cold

If it is blowing air and the compressor is running you are low on freon more than likely. make sure the fan on the unit is also running it helps it get rid of heat on the external coils. if all fans are running and the compressor is running it is low on freon.

Air conditioner blowing only warm air

possibly have a capacitor out on the compressor side of the a/c Since the unit works and its only blowing air the compressor isn't kicking in. The capacitor boosts the compressor to activate the compressor. I would have the capacitor to the compressor replaced first before going any further.

Good luck on your repair

AC keeps blowing fuses

Fuses are a protection device and I guess that this is for the condenser section and compressor. If they blow right now when it is turned on would indicate that there is a short in the wiring or motor or compressor. If it trys to start and the outside fan starts and the compressor just humms and blows fuse, you have a locked compressor. Might check run capacitor or install a hard start kit and see if it will brake it loose, if not bad compressor
