Ds Lite bottom screen flashes then shuts down

Hi,
If you had a bad top or bottom screen wouldn't the nintendo stay powered up if you had them disconnected.Wouldn't this tell you if one of the screens were defective?
Thanks,Tom

Not necessarily. When the cable to my top screen became partially torn, it prevented the DS from powering up. Instead, the green light briefly lit up and then went out and the machine stayed off. I can only presume that feedback is required from the screen. As for the bottom screen, I'm unsure of how the DS behaves when the screen or cable is damaged.

Hope this helps.

Incidentally, when my top screen's cable was damaged, the bottom screen did flash white briefly at switch on. The way the top screen's flex cable passes through the hinge on the DS means it's subject to stress and eventual damage, and so is the most likely culprit. Not a fun job to dismantle and check, but it can prove the cause of the fault. Another thing to remember is that the cable can become dislodged from its connector on the PCB. It can also appear to be in the connector, but in fact isn't far enough into it to make electrical contact, so reseating it properly is necessary just in case.

Hello there! First of all let me tell you that your nintendo ds can be repaired and it is not trash... what you need is to get the bottom screen to be repaired ....you can do it sending it to the nintendo repair shop or by doing it yourself by following this youtube guide http://www.youtube.com/user/nintendorepair.

Screen goes white on power on and then shuts down power

This is basically due to a faulty screen. Depending on which screen flashes white when you first turn the DS on, this tells you which screen is faulty. If the bottom screen flashes then it is the top screen that is faulty. If the top screen flashes then it is the bottom screen that is faulty. Screens are fairly easy to fit although the top screen is the harder out of the two, you can buy them off of ebay for around £10 and if you google DS screen replacement there are some good guides out there showing you how to do it.

Hope this helps

Ds lite comes on the top screen flashes then it switches off

It could also be a bad top screen due to a bad ribbon cable. If your hinge is cracked it could cause damage to the ribbon cable that passes through it, this shorts out the top screen and will shut the DS down

My ds will not turn on

Hi,

It sounds like one of you're screens has broken. What you have discribed is generally what happens one either the top or bottom LCD screen has broken.

If it is the top screen the bottom screen will flash for 1/2 a second and the DS turns off.

If it is the bottom screen the DS should still turn on but with no reaction from the screens. (the Ds will shut down immediatley after turning on)

Ds lite flashes on but fuses are ok

One or both your screens have blown.

Try removing the motherboard from the screens and attach the battery the green light should turn on and stay on.

Now attach the lower screen and turn on. If the screen is ok the screen and green light will flash and then turn off. (if the screen doesn't flash the bottom screen is you're problem and will have to be replaced)

If this happens the problem is then you're top screen which you will have to replace.

Fuse location on nintendo ds lite

Bottom screen flashing and the unit shutting down is more like a broken top screen or ribbon problem.

The fuse problems usually blink the amber light in your DS each time you connect the charger.

And I am sure you will find a guide looking in google for it, just as I did and there are plenty.
