HP Pavilion Entertainment PC

Hi, I have HP Pavilion Entertainment PC - dv6405us with Windows Vista.
I really need help!!
I tried to fix my audio but I couldn't fix it..

There's QuickPlay buttons on top of keyboards, and the third right one is the sound/mute button so that I can mute and unmute. That one is not working properly. The red mute light should change to blue but even though I make it unmute, it doesn't change.. It stays red and I get no sound........

Please please help me, experts!!!!

Mute and volume buttons on top of keyboard don't work on my HP Pavilion dv9420us.

  • Anonymous Sep 16, 2008

Same thing. Mute button is permanently locked while the volume and all areas under the sound controls are saying the sound is on. Light is briefly blue while powering up and turns to red once it gets going. No idea what to do, we've tried everything.

I have the same problem but mine is blue and wont turn red..

    I don't know what to do......>.<

I was having a similar issue. My volume button worked fine muting and unmuting the volume, the light just stayed red either way.

I went into Device Manager, then expanded the Sound, Video and Game Controller options, I rolled back the driver and it was an instant fix for me :)

Uninstall the drivers for the quickplay buttons, then do a hardware search. This should automatically pickup and reinstall the drivers. If that doesn't work, try updating the drivers. If the buttons still don't work, then I'd say he button is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

If it's just out of the box (like mine) then there is a software update for the HD Audio Codec. In the control panel, click on "system", then click update device drivers under device manager. This should open a new screen. scroll down to sound, video and game controllers, right click on IDT High Definition Audio codec, then hit update. pick the internet option, and the problem should go away.

Download this software, and it will fix your problems. The problem was due to a bad image on HP's part. Thank You. If you have any issues contact Computer Logics @ 910-527-8422. James

Goodmorning.. This is naome from the Philippines. I got this problem with my PC it was infected with this worm/virus named jhowly-bee and I was wondering if my Hp Pavilion Entertainment PC can be converted...

You might try it, if it is already infected with the virus. Make sure it's not a virus that resides in memory or CMOS.

After that, you can format and reinstall with windows XP. There is a program call Driver Genius Professional which will search all the drivers for you.

If it doesn't work, just reinstall the OEM Vista.

Hope it helps.
God Bless You

My HP pavillion dv6700 laptops sound doesn't work .... the icon has a re x at the bottom and it says no audio device has been installed; it is only 2yrs. old; can this be resolved or would it be best to...

I believe it can be resolved without purchasing a new laptop.

Windows is a 'funny animal'. Sometimes Windows just looses it. You need to reinstall your audio device Drivers again.

It's Integrated Audio used on the HP Pavilion DV6700T laptop. An audio chip soldered to the motherboard.
Another term used for Integrated Audio is OnBoard Audio.
On the motherBoard.

Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_circuit

(If it wasn't Integrated Audio, it would be a separate audio adapter card. {Sound Card} The audio chip is soldered to an adapter card. The adapter card is removable. This would allow replacing the audio adapter card. Not happening for an HP Pavilion dv6700t laptop)

Drivers are small software programs that allow the Operating System to communicate with the device.
(Windows XP and Windows Vista are two examples of an Operating System. O/S)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_driver

There is an HP Pavilion DV6700T Entertainment Notebook PC series, and an HP Pavilion DV6700T SPECIAL EDITION Entertainment Notebook PC series of laptops.

I need to know what Operating System you are using. Do I assume Windows Vista? (Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit)

Going with Windows Vista, here is the Audio Driver download page for the Pavilion DV6700T notebook, (Laptop),

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=2093&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3650962

Doesn't matter what version of Vista it is, this audio file is for all versions of Vista.

On the above page left-click on the + sign to the left of -
Driver- Audio (1)

Now go to the right, and left-click on Download, in the rectangular box.

A small box will come up, Opening sp38899.exe
The name of this file is sp38899.exe

Left-click on Save File.

The file will be saved to, where ever your downloads are set to save to. The file needs to be found, then opened in order to work.

When you see the audio file (sp38899.exe) Double-click on it.
The Windows Installation wizard will lead you through installing.

If you are asked to restart your computer, do so.
If not, restart your computer.
