Usually it's electrolytic capacitors' problem inside the monitor. In case you can use soldering tools you can handle it. Open the monitor's case and locate near the power supply socket the capacitors like these:
monitor power would blink and - 0a32e61.jpg
Replace ALL of them with new ones. The cost isn't too much and you can find them at any electronics components shop at your area.

Do the bad ones look burnt or have any other distinguishing features? Just trying to be as cheap and lazy as possible....
Also I've read about capicitors in old CRT monitors holding large charges for a log time. Are these dangerous as well?

I cant open my computer.

You're going to need to be a bit more specific than that. There are too many reasons a computer won't boot properly and it is the way it won't boot that tells people what the problem is.

If you'd computer doesn't turn on at all even if u push the power button, no sound no video no nothing, Kaput, then reassure your power is properly plugged in. Take the power cord and shove it in. Grrrrrrrr it takes a bit of force. If that doesn't work , check the power supply. Are the volts correct? In usa, that volt meter at the back should read 110 volts. If u live anywhere else, its 220 volts. If that's correct then check if the power switch is one in the power supply. Is the power cables inside connecting to the motherboard good? Is the power supply good? If everything a fine, u probably have a dead motherboard.

Miracles happen and u see something, but no video pops open. U either have a bad monitor or a bad graphics card. The vga/dvi/HDMI cables may jot be properly inserted. Is the monitor even on powered correctly?

Hurray u got it to boot but then u get blue screen. Or u get the the windows icon, but then restarts. It must be past the motherboard screen like dell Asus gigabyte etc, try reinstalling windows. If it doesn't work, u probs y have a dead hard drive.

Compaq sr2013wm

1/ do you have an ethenet cable plugged in ? is this light located on this plug ? unplug the cable first
2/ check that the monitor is switching ON
3/ find a power switch at the back of the case and switch off and/or unplug the power cable, for at least 10 sec
4/ switch on/connect power cable, and turn computer ON
5/ if nothing happens, then power supply may be dead ; don't worry it's inexpensive and super-easy to change ! but first check the manual (or manufacturer) for the meaning of the GREEN LIGHT ! Then open the case and CHECK if the computer is perfectly CLEAN, or DIRTY ; especially double check the RAM modules ! Clean everything with air spray and soft brush (pull out processor, ram, cards, if you find lot of dirt)
6/ after cleaning try to turn on computer again ; if fails, go to buy a new cheap power supply that fits your motherboard, or try to find someone that can lend you one for testing

good luck

LG 700E monitor's power LED blinking continueously, no display

The monitor is probably on protection.

To start unplug monitor from power and from computer and test computer with different monitor to find out if it is monitor or computer fault.

If it is computer fault and no video signal , then test:

  • Video cable.
  • Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
  • Motherboard.

If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.

When on protection you keep having a flashing led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occurr are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Dell E151FPb 15" LCD with power LED blinking.

The problem may be a loose connection. When I turn on my monitor, the green light blinks and a flickering white screen appears for a brief second every time. There must be a loose connection on the power board which may be causing this. The easiest solution is to tap at the back of the monitor. This will reconnect the loose end and the monitor will work fine until it gets disconnected again. I will open my monitor soon to find the real problem. But it will take some time to find it.
