Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

I have been given a psc 1310, without an instruction manual and without any ink cartridges.The diagram inside the machine shows 5 different numbered cartridges which the machine uses, 27,28,56,57 and 58. I presume they are for different tasks but which ones are for what?

HP 27 - Black Ink (approx 220 pages)
HP 28 - Color Ink (approx 190 pages)
HP 56 - Black Ink (approx 450 pages)
HP 57 - Color Ink (approx 400 pages)
HP 58 - Photo Ink Cartridge (approx 140 4x6 photo prints)

Error 0xc18a0101 persists. Have tried solution given earlier for 0xc18a0001 without success. Ink system failure not resetting; all cartridges are full.


Its tricky mechanism, once printer detects ink system failed it cannot be resetted. Do this take out cartridges from printer., open right cover., find out logic card., remove cmos battery., wait for 5 minutes., refix batyery., power on the printer., follow the screen messges ... I hope it will solve the issue..

No paper. /
Paper does not feed.

If paper is not installed, load it and then press the <Black> or <Color> button. When paper is installed, check each of the following items and try printing again.

1. Confirm only recommended paper is installed.
2. Confirm paper is installed properly.
3. Confirm the maximum number of sheets in the auto sheet feeder is within the paper limit mark.
4. Clean the paper feed roller to resolve the error.

Paper jam

Remove the jammed paper.
If paper jams frequently occur, check the following:

1. Confirm there is no foreign material inside the machine.
2. Confirm only recommended paper is installed.
3. Confirm paper is installed properly.
4. Confirm the maximum number of sheets in the auto sheet feeder is within the paper limit mark.

Empty ink tank

An ink cartridge is empty.
To cancel printing, press the <Stop/Reset> button.
To continue printing, press <Black> or <Color> button.
After printing completes, replace the empty ink cartridge.
Printing with an empty ink cartridge may cause the machine to malfunction.

The ink cartridge(s) is not installed. / The ink cartridge(s) cannot be recognized.

The ink cartridge may not be installed properly, or an unsupported ink cartridge may be installed.
Install a recommended ink cartridge.

Make sure to install both ink cartridges even when you set the machine to use only one ink cartridge in printing.
If one of the ink cartridges is missing, this error can occur.

The ink cartridge is not installed in the appropriate position.

The ink cartridge is not installed in the proper position.
Install each ink cartridge in the proper position.

The waste ink absorber is almost full.

The waste ink absorber is getting full.
Press the <Black> or <Color> button to clear the error and continue printing.
Printing can continue until the waste ink absorber becomes full. If the waste ink absorber becomes full, the machine will require service.

The waste ink absorber is a part inside the machine, which absorbs ink used in the cleaning operations.

A specified period of time has elapsed without receiving a response from the digital camera. / A print mode compliant with PictBridge is not selected. / A specified period of time has elapsed without receiving a response from the digital camera.

The machine cannot communicate with the connected camera.
Disconnect the cable between the machine and the camera to clear the error.
Check the following items, then try printing again.

1. Confirm that the camera you are using supports PictBridge or Canon Bubble Jet Direct.
If the camera does not support either one, the machine cannot print directly from the camera.
2. Set the camera in PictBridge print mode before it is connected to the machine. This is required before printing for some cameras that support PictBridge.
Please refer to the camera instructions for more information about procedures required before and after connection to the machine.
3. There may have been no response from the camera for the prescribed time.
Re-connect the cable between the camera and the machine.

I have a hp psc 1310 series printer and i can not find the site to check the ink levels. The book says to use the hp director on page 28.


Checking the ink levels A message will appear on the front panel display when the ink level for the print cartridge is low. The ink levels can also be checked through the HP Director on the computer. Checking the ink levels on a Windows computer
  1. From the HP Director , click Settings , Print Settings , and then click Printer Toolbox .
  2. Click the Estimated Ink Levels tab. The estimated ink levels appear for the print cartridges.
Checking the ink levels on a Macintosh computer
  1. From the HP Director , click Settings , then click Maintain Printer .
  2. If the Select Printer dialog box opens, select the HP PSC, and then click Utilities .
  3. From the list, select Ink Level . The estimated ink levels appear for the print cartridges.

I can not seem to get the cartridge to align, the instructions ask me to hit the OK button but there is not one on the panel. Also the driver shows hp1310,


On this page near the bottom are some instructions with a video for aligning a cartridge (after the install cartridge instructions).

The driver is for all printers in the psc 1310 series that includes the psc 1315.

I want to refill the color liquid of my printer model 1310-


Hi there
It is up to you but some times by refilling it will not show ink leavals so it will not print, so it best to change the cartridge.

The printer 1310, won't scan after installation


First the printer is hp psc 1315 not 1310, my mistake.
I think the problem arose because of the order in which I was installing the cartridge. Instead of waiting for the printer to print out the test sheet, I was placing a test sheet, of which I have a number of copies, in the printer immediately after installing the colour cartridge and then pressing 'scan'. Nothing seemed to happen. I then tried waiting for the printer to produce a test sheet. This took a surprisingly long time. However after placing the test sheet which the printer had just produced in the printer and then pressing 'scan', the scanning operation was completed successfully. Problem was probably caused by my not reading instructions carefully. Roland Bishop
