Question about Dell Inspiron 1545 Notebook

2 Answers

Dell XPS M1530 Vista originally installed - Fresh installed Win7 and now touch pad does not work - the right button works, and sometimes the left, but the touch pad does not. I've install the latest drivers from Dell & Synaptics websites - but still no touch pad. I've played with all the options in the touch pad configuration, even returned it to the "Default" settings but no luck. I read somewhere earlier in my search someone instructing on changing some settings in the config files!? This is getting the best of me, but here I am again :?

If you've reinstalled the drivers for the touchpad, the issue is likely the hardware- if in warranty, contact Dell tech support- if not, you may need to purchase the palmrest assembly and consult support.dell.com for the install instructions

Hello you can always download for free here at DELL:

Try also the service tag number here:

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriversHome/ShowProductSelector?fkey=Drivers_PS

In order to get the right drivers.

But first select your windows system.

Open the folder and download the driver.
You might have to unzip the file before you install it.

Here is not drivers for all windows systems, but the vista driver should work on windows 7.

I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop. The touch pad does not work.

Unless it is a hardware fault open the control panel>system>mice and uninstall the touchpad. Then rebott. It should solve the problem.

Xps 1530 touch pad scroll vertical horizental does not work on

What you need to do is install all the software that is included with the Dell XPS drivers and utilities cd. You also have a software there that is for your touchpad. What you need there is either the quickset or the synaptic itouch software. If you could not find it from the disk.. go to support.dell.com and download the drivers and utilities from there.

Dell XPS M1530 trouble shutting down

Try this, just to see if the shutdown actually works.

Open a command prompt and enter the following:

shutdown -s -t 05

-s is to shutdown, -t 05 is a 5 second countdown.  Let me know if it actually shuts down.
