Question about Whirlpool LGB6300 Gas Dryer

DRYER HEAT TURNS OFF AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES

We have the LGB6200KQ1 model, but I didn't see that listed as a choice on your site. Anyway, we have checked the vents behind the dryer and up to the roof, both are clear. We ran the dryer with the hose disconnected, the dryer heats for aobut 30 minutes, then stops heating. It still turns but stops heating at some point, so the load doesn't finish drying. Any suggestions as to what part is bad?

I don't understand the answers given. One of your solutions is even for an electric dryer..ours is gas. We have the dryer out in the middle of the room and the heat still shut off after some time, so it can't be an issue of it being in too cramped of a space.

Most likely the problem caused by the coils (#13 & 14 on the burner break down diagram) on the gas valve. They are not stable and do not always holding the gas valve open. Due to this sometimes you will find cool air flowing then followed by hot air and sometimes it stops working at all.
So if u can change the part yourself that would be very well otherwise contact vendor to fix the problem..
- The part number for the set of the coils is AP3094251

Hello,

Sounds like you could have a bad motor
There is a over load on the motor that will kill the power to the motor if the motor gets to hot. Once the motor cools off it will reset and run again.

Check that your drum rotates fairly easy by hand
Open it up and clean it out, also clean/check the venting

  • Get on with replacing the gas valve coils shown to you in the previous link, it will take care of your problem.
  • There are two house circuits/fuses in an electric dryer's circuit.
If one of them is tripped/blown, the drum may turn, but the heater will not operate. Reset the circuit breaker or replace the house fuse.
  • Outlet wired incorrectly.
Have a qualified electrician verify that the supply voltage is correct.
  • Gas supply valve to a gas dryer is not open.
Open the gas supply valve. See Installation Instructions for details.
  • LP gas supply tank is empty or there has been a utility interruption of natural gas.
Refill or replace the LP tank. Call your natural gas utility company.
  • Dryer does not have enough air supply to support the gas burner.
The dryer needs space around it for proper ventilation. Do not stack or place laundry or throw rugs against the front or back of the dryer. See Installation Instructions for details about installing a dryer in a closet or alcove.
  • Incorrect cycle or temperature has been selected.
If the Air Fluff cycle or temperature is selected, the dryer will tumble without heat. Each cycle ends with a Cool Down period during which the load tumbles without heat. Check the location of the indicator on the Cycle Selector knob.

Perhaps the flame sensor is not working. If it does not sense heat, it will shut off the gas. You might go online and search for a manual to help you troubleshoot, or go to:

for troubleshooting help and parts. I hope this is of help to you.

You may have a bad thermocouple. The thermocouple senses the heat from the flame and "tells" the control unit that the flame has lit. If it is sending no signal, the control will think it didn't light and shut off the gas to prevent an explosion. Good luck.

Whirlpool Gas Dryer - Model LGB6200KQ1 Serial # mm2105815 Heat comes and goes. Can heat fine for a few loads then stops. Then starts again. Any ideas

Sounds like it is running Hot, Clean you venting out and make sure the weather hood outside is not blocked.

Vacuum out the lint filter area.

Your dryer also may have worn seals, how old is it? 10 to 12 years running a load a day average? it may be time for a new dryer or rebuild yours.
