Thank you very much for your help and guidance. The solution looks a lot more complicated than my limited technical abilities - so will follow your advice and get in a technician to do the repair. Your help has save me hours of fiddling with the machine ... perhaps making the problem worse .... knowing that I am not calling in a technician for something I could have done myself ... thank you

Hi, if your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out/drain, the drain line is probably clogged. Especially now that you have indicated that when washing machine attempts to pump out at high speed water gushes out through the detergent draw which obviously means that the pump is either blocked or the pump is bad and needs replacement. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out.
To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port.
Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job.
If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump.

I have a Hotpint Aquarius Washer/Dryer model number WDL520 that seems to have sprang a leak. First it was water only trickling from under the botton left hand side at the front. Now it gushes. Any ideas...

you could have a broken pipe on the filler or the seal has gone on the drum you would need to have a look, either way they are easy to fix or replace. drain pipe can leak if the pipe has come off the pump also check this but you will need to remove the case to get to look, always unplug the washer before touching any screws, remove case and look at the pipes and make sure they are seated in the right place.

Kenmore washing machine not empyting all the way during the rinse cycle? the machine washes fine but not empyting all the water during the rinse cycle?

Does it go into high speed spin? If it does and there is still water than check to see if the filter or hoses are clogged. The hoses the run from your basket to the pump and the drain hose too. A washer is only given so much time to drain all the water. Most of the time the filter or coin trap hose is clogged. If everything is clear u may have a weak pump.

Model # GHW9100LW on final rinse and spin water remains in washer, door locked and humming sound comes from machine....pause/cancel will not unlock door or start new cycle... what might be the problem?

Sounds like the pump is trying to drain the water but something is clogged in it or the pump itself is bad. Door wont unlock if machine thinks there is water inside. Remove front lower panel. pump is in center. Unscrew cap and remove attached filter. Be prepared for water to come gushing out once filter is removed. Clean filter and reinstall. If problem persists then the pump itself needs to be replaced.

High speed drum rinse ..drum not spinning during rinse cycle

Clean out coin collector thoroughly. Replace drain pump if necessary. Water will drain if you can place drain hose on floor and let water siphon out.

Water gush in power drawer

You have a seal that is not working right for one. and 2 you have a water pump that is not working. because it is not limiting the water supply.

Water not draining completely after cycle ends

First of all, is your drain hose connected to a kitchen sink or into a standpipe? If its a sink make sure you form a loop or curve in the hose as high as possible above the sinks own waste(plug hole) ,to ensure water cannot travel from sink back into machine. If this is not the case then your water pump, or the rubber pipe coming to the pump has definately got some kind of obstruction inside. Your washing machine has not emptied properly since it filled up at the beginning of the cycle, and has not got rid of the soapy water enough to enable a true rinse.Hence the detergent smell on clothes... Turn off power at plug socket.Take drain hose out of stand-pipe (or connection to sink waste)and drop this hose into a washing up bowl or similar at floor level,to drain off as much water as possible before disconnecting hose to pump or checking the pumps impellar to discover the blockage..Lets know how u get on,good luck.
