Question about Canon PIXMA MP160 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Scanning my printer is working fine in printing and copying but when i want to scan my document it gives me error either cable is disconnected or printer is off .

    I guess I don't know how to scan something and then make it into an attachment to send in and email.

I called to cannon customer care he gave me high speed usb cable. and now printer is working fine.
so use cannon recommended usb cable

Your problem can be 2 thing you may need microsoft office installed or just reinstall your printers drivers

My Printer Lexmark X4580 will not scan. I get the following message-Cannot retrieve Application List. Printing and copying works fine.


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. If your printer is connected via the USB cable, disconnect your printer from your computer. Reboot your computer. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Try to scan again.
If that doesn't help, try to reinstall the printer software on your computer. This will help repair any corrupted files necessary for scanning or printing.

My hp printer 6110 officejet all in one keep giving message scanner failure when i want to print something


Please make sure that the printer is connected to a wall outlet and not to a surge protector because surge protector distributes the total electric supply equally to each and every device connected to that surge protector. Printer might work and might not with a surge protector but it will always work fine with a wall outlet till the hardware of the printer and power chord, adapter are working fine.

some times scanner failure error comes if it is not getting enough power supply.So if it is connected to a surge protector then I will suggest you to disconnect it and connect it directly to a wall outlet.
Now scan or copy any document and see if something happens.

If not the do check while you press scan or copy button the scanner light is moving or not?
If scanner light is not moving then do a hard re-set.

Hard Re-Set :
- disconnect power chord from the back of the printer and then from wall outlet or surge protector.
- wait for 40 secondsand then connect the power adapter to wall outlet and then to the back of the printer. The try to scan or copy....still not working then check if the scanner bulb is glowing or not?

If scanner bulb is not glowing and if you dont hear any noise while you press scan or copy...then printer hardware has gone bad and you need to replace the printer

Can't scan


please disconnect the power cable from the wall outlay and press and hold the power bottoum for 20-30 sec then restart .
try and make a copy from the printer
again try to print a test page from the printer and see how it prints if it prints fine then it should scan
if it does not print the test page fine then there is a problem with the printer itself

How to print a regular document from Microsoft Word, Excel.


Instead of pressing the start button to print, you need to press the small ON/OFF button. The start button works to copy/scan. But to print, you will need to turn the printer on first. Once the printer is on, the computer should recognize it fine and allow you to print from your applications.

Canon pixma mp 190 won't scan / copy and printing works!


I also have a newly purchased MP 190 that prints but will not scan at all have also tried reinstalling software.

try scanning from your printer/scanner program on the computer. My scanner will not work stand alone, but does work this way

Scan problems with Canon MX310


i have found the way to scan items from a Canon MX310 (on windows)

1.On windows go to control panel
2. click hardware and sounds
3. then hit devices and printers
4. then click on the Canon Inkjet MX310 seriers
5. then you will see scanner management click on scan Photos or docs
6.then place the photo or doc under the scanner and hit scan!

That is all the steps you will need.

Canon mp610 scanning problem


The readme says that some USB hubs have an issue.

I was having problems and was connected via a hub. I removed the hub and connected the printer directly to the back of the PC and voila scanning is all good.
