Re: SECURITY ISSUE ON LAPTOP- UNSECURED ON NETWORK
You didn't specify what router you are using and what type of connection. I assume you are using wireless connection from your laptop. What you need to do is setup security on your router. I can't give you any specifics because I don't know the model of your router. Please read documentation and try to go to wireless security on your router and setup 64-bit WEP then specify 10-digit code. Save your configuration. Try to connect your laptop to the network. If it prompts specify the same WEP security then enter the same 10-digit code. It should work.

Now is that your PC stating this or the Router. Makes a difference. Routers usually need a cd and a PC for initial setup. Now once set up there is a open network or a secured network option. If you wanted it to be secure then it will ask for a password.
Also make sure your wireless is turned on your computer. This is usually the main issue.
Because of the fact that you can connect to your network without cable since it's unsecured you don't need to connect by cable. Skip this part and carry on with going to the routers settings site then to router wireless settings and password change. Remember to choose WPA method of security. Good Luck and please let me know if this was any helpful.
Your laptop must be a wireless computer. You want to secure the wireless network. You will need to change the settings on the router. First you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable. Do you have any computer connected to the router ? If not then connect the laptop to the router. Open the set up page of the router and change the wireless security settings of the network. Change the wireless network name also. Click here for more information about the router and internet
First, you have set up two profiles on your computer, one is the secure profile, the other is the non-secure profile. You need to be sure the secure profile on your MAC is setup with the security settings you enabled in the router.
You can start over if you wish, but the better thing to do is reboot both the router, and your MAC, to see if the MAC will then connect to the secure profile.
If you want to start all over and eliminate security, then locate the reset button on the router. Usually found on the back of the router. Press and hold for 15-30 seconds. Then unplug the router for 10-15 seconds and plug back in. Reboot your MAC. You should now be able to connect without security. Delete the secure profile on the MAC.
you need to remove the connection saved.
after securing the wireless router, before you try to connect. Go to
-Right Click your Wireless Adapter
-Click Wireless Network Tab
-Remove The Network
The person who has the router attached to there computer must enter the IP for the router and you will be able to reset the password to enter the router. If you need Help doing this I can solve this issue with you through my computer.
normally, if you configure the wireless security settings wirelessly, it will automatically disconnect you from the network. you have to input the security key on the laptop first before it connects you back to the network.
i suggest, if you really like to configure the settings of your router, get an ethernet cable, connect it directly to the laptop so you can access and configure the router settings and to avoid from being disconnected
when enabling wireless security the router and adapter must be both be configured and configured in a fashion that both support. If you need help provide confirmation of your wireless router's manufacturer and model and the same information for any wireless adapters or computers with built-in wireless adapters to be wirelessly connected.
