Generic problem for all Vacuums

My wifes vax hoover has developed a problem.
When swithced on the motor gets faster and faster to the point i have to switch it off as it sounds like its gonna explode, its not sucking up either, any ideas??? thanks

GuruTake the motor out and check the fan, outside of that, you may have to replace the motor.
