Question about Heating & Cooling
I have 2 of these ACs one remote is missing and the other was dropped in water. You can use the AC. Plug the unit in and hold the on/off button down for about 20 sec.or until the unit comes on. The cooling unit will come on but you will not have any control on the temp or fan speed, but you will have cool air and not just the fan running.

When your ac is off, press and hold the power button. Wait past the time you start to feel foolish. It WILL turn on cool with the temp set to 61 degrees. Once you let go, the temp read out will go back to showing the temp in the room.

Try holding the on/off button down for a while, and cycling through off and on a few times. I'm not exactly sure what I did, but when I first turned it on, it was on low and fan, and after mucking around with it a bit, it's now on high and cool. At some point I saw 61 show up on the panel, and there's no possible way that room is 61 degrees. I'm assuming that's the temperature the unit is now set for.

I thought I lost my remote for a while too, so I just used my television/dvd remote. I know it sounds stupid, but I pressed every button on the remote to see what function they triggered, and I was able to turn it on, switch from fan to AC, and adjust the temperature. Try it...$30 for that stupid remote is ridiculous.

I did the hold the button for 20 seconds, and it worked. Just make sure it's turned off, then hold the button until it comes on and then release the button. It should start on high cool, at least mine did. Thanks! because the remotes are either over priced on some websites, or on backorder on sears.

Universal A/C remote on eBay, $3.00. I was skeptical. But I'll be dipped: works like a charm. Search by model # of your A/C unit. Comes from China, so order in the winter.

Who do you go through to get this remote for $30???

Sorry , the remote is the only method to change the temprature, call up haier and reorder a remote , Sad to say its going to cost$30.00 Total , $19.95 for the remote , $7.95 for shipping , plus tax. I suggest that when you get the new remote , keep it in one place and away from the kids, thats if you have any.
