Question about Brother HL-2170W Laser Printer
You will need to turn on the option to share the printer, then you will be able to print on any computer with this printer. To do this you will need to do the following:
Click on start
Devices and printers
Right click on your default printer and click on open
Click on the tab that says sharing
Put a check mark in the box next to share this printer
click apply and ok and attempt to print again
You should be good to go!
Hope this helps

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Download the software/driver package from Brother and do a clean install. You have to set it up first (best to do using LAN/wired connection initially).

SOURCE: No IP address on Brother Printer
I am assuming that it works whn it is connected directly to your system, as you told that you got your printer replaced. And as you may know that connecting through CAT5 cable is the RECOMEND way..but thats what every1 else tell.
So now, the 1st doubt that comes in my mind is about the OS you are using. The model you are using is compatible with Windows, Mac & Linux.
The 2nd possibility rises have you installed the appropriate driver for the printer you are willing to use and check your wireless settings too.
Now the 3rd possibility is that maybe there is something wrong with your router. Maybe you should make sure that the router is working properly.

Had the same issue. Change the router wireless security settings from TKIP to AES algorithms. This did the trick for me.

please do not assign dynamic IP on the network printer. give a static IP on it base on your network config. and also, please do assign all you computers on the network with static IP's so that every time they boot there will be no IP conflict or problem on the network connection.

hi there, this should work for you:
When you disconnect an Ethernet cable from the printer, wireless network will be enabled.
On the other hand, when the Ethernet cable is connected to the printer, wired network is enabled.
If you press the Go button for approx. 13 seconds, the network setting page will be printed out. Then release the Go button, wired network will be switched to wireless network even if the Ethernet cable is still connected.
You can then verify your network settings and change between wired and wireless setups.
