HDC - SD5 Software Won't Install On Win XP SP 3

The HD Writer 2.0E software that came with my Panasonic HDC - SD5PP camcorder will not install on myt Win XP O/S with Service Pack 3 installed. It insists on SP 2 (not SP 2 OR LATER)!

What can you suggest?

Well, the transcoder software I downloaded and ran did something with the files, at least :-( It converted them to files with an .mxf filename extension. Now I have to find software that will do something with these files??/

Well, I have to admit I don't really know what filename extension I want. Although I have 45 years experience with computers, I'm new to video editing and standards, and I'd rather be a 'plain user' than a techie/hacker type in this area (it takes too much time to dig deep).

However, I think I have the solution. I've been poking around in the knowledge base on the Pinnacle web site, and found that their Studio11 Plus software will directly import the .mts files the Panasonic camcorder produces. Though I note with some trepidation that they appear to say I can't edit 1920x1080 format HD video files on my machine since it only (!!) has a 3.0 GHz dual core processor. (The first machine I programmed ran at 1.7 KHz (Yes! KILO htz))

Thanks for all your help with this matter.

    Ordinary Guy.

Hi There, few things to follow:
1. Install an update from Panasonic website at (This is a pack of 4 files you need to download 1 by 1) 2. Plug your camcorder to the back usb and not in the front port. 3. Disable your Resident Shield on your anti-virus.
