this is a printer problem, it worked perfectly for a long time without any issues. Same software same files. Now the printout has the loose ink. It is like it is not sticking to the paper.

  • dbarstad Oct 24, 2010

I need someone who is knows tektronix 840 printers. This printer uses solid ink sticks, it does not have cartridges.

  • dbarstad Oct 24, 2010

This not a print smear, print line, white streak, oil on print, common fix in the book , etc problem. The ink all along the right edge of the paper is flaking off the paper, kind of like it was not adhered properly.

Above is your service and repair manual, below is your user manual, both are invaluable in troubleshooting
www.office.xerox.com/userdoc/P840/840pdf/840UG.pdf

This could indeed be the fuser, at the end, it may be dirty, or not working right at the edge, i think there is some sideways adjustment? Or it maybe the heating bar? Also I have heard of some papers being "Better" at receiving the ink, i believe a more porous paper is better?
Please use the service manual, to troubleshoot your issue, further, as unfortunately, as with most electronic things i see in my shop, the symptoms displayed often have many and various "Causes", for the exact same symptom! One simply must work through the troubles shooting steps to isolate a cause.

Check for any small paper jam. Check the rollers, also use an alcohol swab to clean the rollers and check for ink leaking. Check you ink pad, it could be time for a new one.

Image prints at the edge of the canvas

you should check the paper size loaded at the driver open devices and printers- choose HP DJ5500 driver - right click and open Printer properties-click the paper/sizes tab at the top-check that the paper size is set to ROLL- then set roll size ( 24"=A1--36"=A0---42"=A0/2A0)
now when you try to print make sure that the printing application ( EG paintshopPro) has the correct Page size (under document Properties)
and that your not strectching to fit or using the overprint commands within your printing application. the plotter should never be allowed to overprint as this model has no ay of clearing the excess ink that would be left on the platten

Phaser 860 error code 07.003.45:116163

It is a print head tilt error.
Most likely ink is in the stainless steel pivot block at the bottom of the print head.
Also the printer could have been unplugged and the cleaning blade is stuck to the print head.
Or a cable is binding the print head movement.

Let's Try first if it can print without using your computer just to check if printer is working fine by itself.
step1
Make sure its not connected to the computer and there is paper loaded on the printer. Turn off printer, press and hold paper button (middle button) then press and release the power button (right button). If you can see a flashing green light release your hold on the paper button.
If it prints by itself good go to step 2 if not check what lights do you see. Solid red light on ink light (tear drop button) means one or more inks is empty. Epson printer will not print if one or more ink is empty.
step2
Check if computer can detect printer goto start/control panel/systems/ click on hardware tab and click on device manager
On device manager click on Universal Serial Bus controllers press on the "+" sign check if there is USB printing support on it
Check if there is a mark (ie. ?, !, red x mark). If none good there is no conflicts. If there is a mark right click on USB printing support and click on update driver and install recommended
