Try holding the power button on the ps3 for about 10seconds. It should beep as it normally would turning on, carry on holding the button until it restarts. This should restart the ps3 in standard mode so that it can be viewed via rca/scart connection.

hey, when you used the HDMI cable at your friends place, the PS3 display got set to 1080p. to bring it back to standard definition (red, white, yellow wire), follow these steps.

turn off you TV and PS3

turn on your TV

With your PS3 turned off, press and hold the Power button on the front of the PS3 for about 10 seconds (the system will beep as normal as it starts up but after 7-10 seconds it will beep again). The video settings should now be reverted. Doing this will also reset any theme settings.

Now you should be able to see your PS3 menu on the TV.

Happy to help :)

Hi there

The no display problem is very annoying as you check all your cables and everything is fine but still nothing shows up on the screen,

What is the no display error

Again this problem is pretty much what it say's, you know you have this when you have no display on the tv when the PS3 is all set up correctly

The Causes

The basic causes are cables not connected correctly or you have a cable that is not compatible with your Tv/PS3

It can also be PS3 settings that are not correct.

The bigger problem is the Display chip internally or hardware failure.

The Solutions

Solution 1
Ok so you can send the console off to sony they will collect it, repair it and send it back, this will usually cost you $150

Solution 2
My favourite solution is the PS3 repair guide, you can fix the problem within the hour, costs are below $40 and you don't need to be technical at all.

Solution 3
Buy a new PS3 console over $200 this is the last resort.

I had my ps3 hooked up to the plasma with a hdmi cord, my tv went out n i had the setting of the ps3 to hdmi, now idk how to change it to where i can hook it up with the original cord(red yellow white).....

To go from HD to composite you have to do while in HD mode do to the fact that the PS3 will only automatically detect HD and not composite. You can try doing the composit hook-up and then start in SAFE MODE.

SAFE MODE:

1. Place you finger on the on/off sensor leave it their until you console turns off then take you finger off the sensor.

2. Place your finger back on the on/off sensor leave it their until you hear 2 consecutive beeps then take your finger off.

3. Once the safe mode screen comes on select the option PS3 SYSTEM RESTORE.

NOTE: A PS3 system restore will delete all data except the OS. I recommend backing up your console onto a USB flash drive if possible.

Good Luck!

When I put on my ps3 my tv comes up not supported

when you go to turn it on, press and hold the power button until you hear a 2nd beep, then let go. that will set the graphics card back to regular not HD, plug the ps3 in with the yellow red and white rca cord. and you should see the ps3, then once you have your ps3 working you can switch the cord to the HD cord and use the ps3 to see what signal your tv can use by going to Settings>Display Settings>Video Output settings on your ps3 xmb. hope this helps

When changing the display mode of the PS3 you must be in the correct mode and be using the correct wire. If in the shop it was last set up in HD mode, then you must be using an HD cable (component cable(wire with red/yellow/white) will not work. Also, make sure that your TV can handle the resolution it is set in. If your TV at best handles 720p and the PS3 is set in 1080, then you will have to hook it up to a TV with 1080 to change it back or you will not get a picture.

or the previous owner of the ps3 had the settings on the system on HD settings and now the Non-HD TV cannot recognize the signal. In order to change the settings you have to find someone with an HD TV and switch the output settings from HD to AVI

Ps3 start up promlem

so if you have ever had your ps3 connected to HDMI (HD cable) before, and your forgot to change it back to the normal cords that came with the game (yellow, white, and red) then you will have to connect it back up to the HDMI and go to the Display Settings and change your video output to the one that came with the ps3 (which looks like just one yellow in the settings.) then after you do that then the screen might go black if your HDMI and regular cable are on a deffirent channels, so you turn to the channel that the yellow white and red cable needs to be to, then it will show the screen and ask you if you want to leave it at this setting with this video output/cable then you say yes then your good to go.
