Hello, Welcome to FixYa.

There are a couple of scenarios which may prevent the dryer from starting with Bosch.

To save time and back and forth dialog, I`ll mention the most likely and what to do about it.

**Unplug the dryer before attempting any repair tips suggested here please...safety first**

There is an auto shut off or emergency kill switch next to the motor which will prevent it to start in the event it was tripped for whatever reason. This will require you to remove the back panel though.

Once you've remove the rear panel, It will look like this image below and all you need to do is push it to the right ( from the back )...

i.e.

Dryer start/pause button flying and lint filter. - e7dd751.jpg

If you`ve already taken the back of the dryer off before to gain access you should have no problem. If you never have, it`ll take some time.

Either Scenario I alluded to ( the other would be resetting the hi-limit cut out, you can see through the back vent opening when the vent is removed and then by pushing the red button in...shown below ) will require the removal of that panel so let me know if you require further assistance to do this.

Kenmore dryer 592-89047 won't start

Sounds like the lint may have fallen into the fan and has jammed it. The motor will hum if that happens. Its an easy job to clean just take your time taking the blower cover off and reverse the process replacing it.

Dryer won't start, replaced start button

The push-to-start button is not, in most cases, the culprit. There is a thermal fuse on the blower housing and wired in series with the motor and if it blows, power to the motor is terminated and the motor cannot run. No dryer function works when the motor cannot run.

Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse on the blower housing. The blower housing is located on the front left bottom of the dryer cabinet if the dryer has the lint filter on the front or at the rear left bottom if the lint filter is located on the top of the cabinet.

Bypass the thermal fuse by disconnecting the wires and connecting them together. Insulate them properly and plug the dryer back in. The thermal fuse is indeed blown and needs to be replaced if the dryer starts. Do not use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards.

Let us know if the problem is not addressed above but indicate the exact model number of the machine for further advice.

The problem is likely a blown thermal fuse. This thermal fuse is wired in series with the motor and if it blows, power to the motor is terminated and the motor cannot run. No dryer function works when the motor cannot run.

My dryer won't turn on it works great but suddenly I can't turn it on. When I push the button to start there is nothing.

The dryer functions are all impaired if the motor doesn't run. The heating circuit is activated only when the motor runs because power to the heating element is routed through the motor centrifugal switch. The problem here is likely a blown thermal fuse because power to the motor is routed to it. The motor cannot therefore run if the thermal fuse is blown.

Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse on the blower housing. The blower housing is located on the front left bottom of the dryer cabinet if the dryer has the lint filter on the front or at the rear left bottom if the lint filter is located on the top of the cabinet.

Lint filter light goes on; vent unattached so no blockage and lint screen is clean. Thermostat? Temperature regulator? Model 3510 - about 6 plus years old

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To start with the first thing you should do is to remove the lint filter and clean the lint out of inside where the lint screen goes, I mean if you have not done this already. After this unplug the unit for 5-10 minutes and then push & hold the start/pause button for 10-15 seconds and reconnect the unit. If still it won’t work then it’s the Thermal fuse that has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
