Question about Whirlpool Refrigerators

I bought a new Whirlpool refrigerator 4 yrs ago.I have ice and water through the door. It has been a problem from the beginning ( first week) . It freezes up in the chute and stops flow of ice. I have cleaned it out and chipped the ice out many , many,many times. I am tired of this. I feel like a new (when I bought it from Lowes) refrig should not have such a problem. It is embarassing when I have clients to entertain and the ice mechanism is such a problem. Please help so that I can confidently buy Whirlpool products in the future. At the time I bought the refrig, I also bought a stove, microwave / hood over the stove, and a dishwasher all to match. I'm very dissappointed with the frig. Two of my other homes have different brands of appiances and I have not had a problem, but I like the style and space saving qualities of Whirlpool. I'd like someone to make an accessment. I have contacted Lowe's and I paid the repairman they have but it did not solve the problem. Thank you Roger Williams, Esquire

ROGER . I have been in the appliance service for 40 yrs / your problem is very common not with just your brand but with maytag jenair / g e / l g and i could go . when the repair service cked it they should have been able to correct the problem . this is caused by 1 or two things . 1 if the valve was bad and does not shut of completely it will drip through and ice the tube. 2 you may have a old style tube . the new ones have the top removed and instead of being a tube they are a trough . this lets the dry air keep it from iceing over . . there is also heater that can be install if the trough doesn't correct the problem . . the ice maker type or style is used by almost all brands . you should not have to put up with this any longer . so do some shopping and find a appl service that knowes how to correct this .. this one is nt rocket sience.. hope this helped . mm Majic **** ) .feed back pls . if you need more info like the valve # or the tube # to use i will need your model # .. thanks for ysng fix ya

The water dispenser is not putting out water and ice maker is not making ice. The fridge frequently cycles like it is trying to send out water.

it's still under warranty for up to 1 year,call whoever you bought it from and it should be repaired free of charge and next time you write send model number.

Water & ice dispenser problem

Ensure there is proper water pressure and volume to the unit....replace the water filter....all should be fine.

Freezer does not make ice

You need to check and see if ice maker has any water init. if not check the fill tube that goes thru the back wall for stoppage while you have it out rin the maker thru a harvest mode and listen for the sounds of the solonoid opening. If tube is full you'll need to replace the slow leaking valve a common problem. for parts call 704-819-6557

Particles in ice cubes

Most new water/ice systems have break-in procedures in the manual, including flush a couple gallons of water through the water dispenser and disposing the first 24hrs of ice.

Are the particles present in the filtered water before adding ice? If so, you can probably assume the contamination is from the water tank so you should flush several gallons of water through the system to get rid. If the particles are present after adding ice, try pulling out the ice bin and dumping the ice.

My new Whirlpool Refrigerator the water and ice still stink

We have the same problem. Started 2 weeks after purchase. (6 months ago). Tech. replaced fliter, worked for another 2 weeks, then water & ice awful again. Tried to live w/ it - ordered another filter a week ago. Replaced & within 24 hrs. problem was back. Called Whirlpool. Said tech who came to my househad written in his report that tap water & fridge water tasted the same. A lie - he agreed w/ me that the water from fridge was bad, & replaced filter which had a musty odor. Whirlpool basically called me a liar but agreed to send another tech to check it out. I will never buy another Whirlpool product & plan to tak this problem as far as I need to in order to get satisfaction. This is ridiculous!

I/M itself is most likely bad. Is there ice in the mold or is it dry?
