Ok sounds to me like a power supply problem.. this a a fairly common symptom. I suggest that as a temporary fix you set the monitor to NOT turn the power off to the monitor in sleep mode if possible, in your power settings for the monitor.

The power board in your monitor was damaged when the power was interrupted. We can do the repair for you if you are interested. The repair charge runs $35 + return shipping.

Bad caps in the power supply, common problems. See examples here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Viewsonic%20V912B/

i have the same problem, my viewsonic lcd is also 2 years old, hmmm...then maybe "the" 2 years do something to them since everyone else exp the same prob after 2 yrs.
but, i find a "not so smart" solution, my lcd will turn back on whenever i unplug the power cable and then plug it back in, (won't turn on if u only press the power button)
so what i did was bought an electric switch (on-off) in the edge of my lcd's power cable, so whenever it goes blank, i can easily and quickly cut the electricity without having to bother unplugging and plug back the power cable.
hope it works for u guys

It does the same when using it with another PC? Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide: Learn about bad caps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/ he can make you a set of caps for you. Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.
Otherwise it may have bad caps as shown in my pictures here, very common problem.
