Windows 7 installation disc doesn't see SATA hard drive

If your motherboard's BIOS is properly configured for SATA controllers and you burned the Windows 7 RC1 ISO image correctly, Windows 7 should recognise and install on a SATA drive without any third-party drivers. Consult your motherboard's User's Guide for assistance in setting up the BIOS properly.

"asus" laptop boot from bios

If you are trying to install Windows 7 from the USB flash drive then you need to configure the drive so the system will see it as a boot drive, see link below for instructions on how to do this. If you have Windows 7 installed on the flash drive then the boot files may have become corrupt thus preventing you from booting into the operating system. My asus eee pc 4g has windows xp program but i want to change it to windows 7,is it possible?how?

You can connect an external dvd drive or use a thumb drive to install windows 7. The thumb drive however will require you to format the drive itself to a different format and install windows files to it in order to make it both bootable and a windows 7 install. Here is a link on how to do that if that is the path you choose:
WARNING!! - It will take some know-how to be able to use the thumb drive, if you are unsure, get an external Hard Drive.

Eee 1000XP 160 GB HDD is partitioned (C) healthy system, (D) healthy but empty. How do I expand (C) to use empty space, Tried XP right click, no joy, tried command prompt still no joy. Any ideas???

The most-simple method is for you to remember to write to the 'D:' drive, to use that existing space.

There exists commercial software, namely "PowerQuest Partition Magic", that can delete the 'D:' partition, turning the space into "free" disk-space, and then "expand" the 'C:' drive, to extend its upper-boundary to incorporate some/all of that free-space.

Or, leave it partitioned, but always write your files to 'D:'.
Then, if you ever need to reinstall Windows to 'C:',
then all your data files on 'D:' will _NOT_ be "touched" at all.

Can windows 7 be installed on asus k8v-mx mb with amd sempron 2.4 1gb ddr1ram

this is the minimum spec for Windows 7:

  • Processor: 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
  • Memory: 1 GB of system memory
  • Hard drive: 16 GB of available disk space
  • Video card: Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128MB memory (in order to enable Aero theme)
  • Drive: DVD-R/W drive
  • Internet connection (to download the Beta and get updates)
Its not the motherboard, its the processor speed, RAM size, and hard drive space, and video card capability that counts.Your processor speed well meets this criteria and also your RAM size is within spec for Windows 7, and im sure you will have in excess of 16GiG hard drive space. So its all down to your video card. You may need to install DirectX 9.Hope this helps :)
