I have not opened it up yet. I am not techno savy at all, but I am willing to get my hands dirty. Can you tell where I might find these capacitors? What they might look like? And how to check them.

  • rmihli Jun 07, 2008

The signal is not the problem.Like I said the power comes on. I can hook it up to my TV and get sound from the speakers, just no radio. I don't know if the Tuner button does not work.

did u open it and check the capacitors?

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jun 07, 2008

also may be due to some kind of shorting since it has not been used from a long time.
just make a cleaning work inside it and the start the unit.

you can get it fixed i think

    thank you

Pioneer VSX-D412 directv remote code

I also have the VSX D412 and DirectTV. My DirectTV remote controls the D412 fine, but I did have the same problem you're experiecing with a Sylvania flat screen that the remote wouldn't operate. I corrected my problem by turning the TV off, then back on using the TV's remote, then telling the DirectTV system that I didn't know the model number and let the system search for the code. Hope this helps.

7 year old Pioneer VSX-D1011-s. Looses settings after power off (ie switch off at socket) unit normally is in standby mode but if the power switch on the front or at plug (obviously!!) is turned off ...

As a pioneer dealer, I am well aware of this problem. Sadly, there is no consumer level fix for this problem. A special capacitive battery is soldered on the board, and will require a professional electronic repair person to fix.

Another solution is to purchase a battery backup (UPS) and plug the receiver into it. In theory, this would allow you to continue using the receiver with no loss of power ever.

With nothing showing up on the front panel display, I would first look at the power transformer. there is a thermal fuse built into the transformer core, and with your description on what happened, it could have gotten too hot and blown this fuse.

Unit is pretty old I had one of these back in 98-99.

Time to upgrade a service tech is going to cost you $150 just to open it up and figure out whats bad.

Pioneer ok but check out Denon's line of receivers Onkyo is good too but they have a high rate of repairs

Pioneer doesn't make them like they used to that D1S was a tank, had tons of audio / video inputs was one of the first with video upconverting had lots of power and a great front display panel. BUT technology has come along way and pioneer hasn't kept up. They even stopped making high end TV's a few years ago even though they were regarded as the best sets out there.

check this out
Denon AVR-4310CIgoogle it they sell for ALOT less than sticker I bought one for $1299 with a 5 year warranty

Hope that helps

No audio output

THE FIX - to audio problems that persist with the VSX-29TX and others using the AWX7272 DSP board is to replace the ROM on the DSP. My unit started failing on and off after 10 years of use! The intermittent DSP board is an Extremely Common and irritating Problem for this model! The replacement IC,(2) resistors + shipping and handling totaled $49.65 and my unit is finally fixed correctly! Don't believe other posts that you can get away with re-soldering; it will continue to fail again and again! Details of fix are:

Replacement for the old Pioneer ROM located at location IC 9374, should be done with the part PD6381A from Pioneer Electronics. You will also need to move (relocate) the 2 resistors (0 Ohm resistors) located at R9372 and R9371 to locations R9374 and R9373.

This component update applies to DSP boards marked as AWX7433, AWX7272.

This fix is validated (from Pioneer) on the VSX-26TX,VSX-27TX,& VSX-29TX it might also work in the VSX-908, VSX-908RDS and others as long as the same DSP board was used.

Let me caution and stress that surface mount soldering skills ARE REQUIRED to do this update! It also doesn't hurt to have excellent vision and/or an eye loop or microscope to check your work. Original ROM's were subject to timing changes internal to the part as a result of HEAT. This model does get HOT! The program was also modified as a further safeguard to re-occurrence.

Pioneer VSX-9700S Audio/Video Receiver powers on then shuts off

The Pioneer 9700s is a very good sounding unit, if you are talking in home threater space, but your problem sound like the power amplifer section is giving out too HIGH DC voltage therefore ripping the protection circuit. In these newer home threater ammplifers, there are not dc offset voltage adjustment on the circuit brd. All is done by negative feed back. Sorry you ar eout of luck I don,t hinkit is worth fixing. They are not as well make as the older Sa7500, and Sa9800 amplifers of old. There is a good chance that aftera few month something else will go on them. That is why they are so cheap on Ebay, these thraeter receivers.
