Question about HP Pavilion dv2000t Notebook

1 Answer

HP Pavilion ze4900 internal clock

We have to manually change the date and time that is displayed in the lower right-hand corner of the task bar everytime we start the computer. Web search resulted in a hit that stated that the problem was hardware and it cost a lot to fix. Seems like HP would provide a software fix that would automatically sync the date and time when the computer is started and connected to the internet. I see several freeware programs but we have been unable to get them to update the date, i.e. syncs the time but not the date. Thanks

How to set time and date?

Automatically Set Computer Clock
It's really upsetting when a once reliable computer starts to lose time.
Most of us rely on our computer clock to keep us aware of the time spent on the Internet or working on a project on the computer.
So, time is important.
Here is a way to configure the computer so that it automatically synchronizes the time with a time server.
Note: You have to be online for the synchronization to take place.
The first step is to open the date and time dialog box located on the task bar on your computer. Should be on the lower right side of the task bar.
Right click or Double click time to open the dialog box.
The date and time box should open on the desk top.
Now click the Internet time tab.
Check the box that says automatically synchronize with an Internet time server.
Then you will see a list of servers.
Select a server from the drop down list.
Check apply and close the box.
Now every time you go on the Internet Windows will automatically set the computer clock to the right time.
Now, there is no need to worry about adjusting the computer clock again!

I would like to display the date also at the right bottom corner of my computer. The time is already displayed there.

Which operating system do you have ?
The Window's taskbar organizes open and running programs, provides a quick way to access application shortcuts, and gives easy to access to important computer functions and utilities via the system tray. Most users of Windows center their workflow around the Window's task bar for its convenience and ease of use. With the clock function automatically enabled, users can add the date to their task bar while increasing the space for more application shortcuts.

Add The Date To The Taskbar In Windows XP/Vista Right-click on your Window's taskbar and click "Lock the taskbar" option to remove the check mark next to it and unlock your taskbar. If there is no check mark next to it, do not click it as your taskbar is already unlocked. Move your cursor to the top edge of the Start menu and wait for it to change into a double arrow. Click and hold the left mouse button and drag your mouse upwards until the taskbar physically changes in . When it does, it will add the day and the date under the time. Add The Date To The Taskbar In Windows 7 Right-click on the Window's taskbar and select "Properties" from the resulting menu. Click the check box next to "Use Small Icons" to disable the option. The icons will get slightly larger and the date will appear under the time. Click "Apply" followed by "Ok" to save your changes and exit the window.
