To be honest with you... you can find new energy efficient, three lamp, two light level, motion with photo controlled security fixtures for $30.00 at Costco, Home Depot or Lowes. Where a new motion detector will cost $10.00 and takes about as much work to change. The lens itself will be difficult to find and is not absolutely necessary. Good Luck!

Defiant Motion outdoor light flashed red and stopped working

Hi! If your Defiant Motion Outdoor Light flashed red and stopped working, there could be a few potential causes for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check the power source: Ensure that the light is receiving power by verifying that the circuit breaker or fuse connected to the light is not tripped or blown. If it is, reset the breaker or replace the fuse and see if the light functions properly.
  2. Inspect the bulb: The red flashing light could be an indication of a bulb issue. Remove the bulb from the fixture and inspect it for any signs of damage or a burned-out filament. Replace the bulb with a new one if necessary and see if that resolves the problem.
  3. Check the motion sensor settings: Some motion lights have adjustable sensitivity settings. Make sure the sensitivity setting is properly adjusted to detect motion as desired. Consult the user manual or manufacturer's instructions for your specific model to learn how to adjust the motion sensor settings.
  4. Reset the light: Sometimes, a simple reset can fix the issue. Turn off the power to the light at the circuit breaker or by disconnecting it from the power source. Leave it off for a few minutes, and then restore the power. This can help reset the light and clear any temporary malfunctions.
  5. Verify the wiring: Inspect the wiring connections for any loose or damaged wires. Ensure that the wiring is properly connected and secure. If you find any issues, consult a qualified electrician to address the wiring problem.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a defect with the light itself. In that case, you may need to contact the manufacturer or return the light for repair or replacement, especially if it is still under warranty.

My motion security light keeps blowing only the left side bulb.

I assume you mean that the light bulb is failing. This can be caused by a faulty connection at the base of the lamp which causes the bulb to heat at the connection point. Remove the bulb and (with power off!) examine and clean the bulb socket.

I want to replace my existing single bulb porch light with a 2 bulb motion activated light. It would be operated with the existing switch. Is this ok to do?

Yes. Must keep switch turned ON.
Outdoor lights will only come on when motion is detected, otherwise light bulb does not come on. So the indoor wall switch does not work as override since the motion sensor takes over as the sole switch.
Copy following link for wiring illustrations:

Other solutions include adding separate motion sensor light nearby and keep porch light so you can turn on-off when desired.
Another option is to add photocell to outdoor light so it turns on automatically at dusk.
Another option is to use outdoor yard timer with dawn-dusk capability:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#outdoor
Another option is to replace indoor wall switch with with dawn-dusk timer, that can also be used as ordinary on-off switch so you can turn porch light on-off when desired. Timer such as Intermatic ST01C offers simple 2-wire connection.:

I have outdoor security lights that run on a timer. Are there some that use a motion detector?

Yes, in fact most people have motion-detector activated lighting so they can know if there is suspicious activity outside of their home. Many security companies also offer systems that allow you to operate the lighting at your home from a smartphone or personal computer, which can help save electricity when it comes to outdoor lighting.

My Motion detector #5512 quit working after we had our house washed. One bulb was out so I replaced that. Both bulbs glow but do not turn on.

Reset circuit breaker.
Check if you are on a GFCI circuit.

Probably there is no hope, but the sensor has to be removed to replaced, so take it off and hang it upside down and let dry in sun.
There is no repair protocol for fixing motion detectors, because there are no replaceable parts, or circuit boards.
Cover outdoor electronics with plastic bag when washing house. That includes light and pool timers, breaker boxes, low voltage timers, infrared cameras, motion detectors, alarm boxes, etc.
Should the power wash contractor know this? Maybe yes.
We never covered things when washing houses, and we washed 100s per year, but I told the guys not to put pressured water directly on any outdoor electrical system.
Can you prove that the sensor stopped because of washing. No.
The unit could have simply stopped working.earlier that morning, without provocation.
