RCA RTD 206

My unit loads both cd and dvd but will not play either. It dislays OPEN instead.

    I have same problem with DVD and CD's, on the TV screen it shows Loading but no sound or vision.

    I HAVE A RCA RTD206, IT HAS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. CD AND DVD PLAYER DOES NOT WORK. IT DISPLAYS OPEN INSTEAD? I'M VERY CONFUSED WITH IT. TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SOLVE PROBLEM. SO I CAN FIX MYSELF. ANY INFO?

    I have the same problem. The system is brand new, we installed it today. The first couple of times we put a disk in it would say loading, and the disk would spin, then we would get a disk error message. Now it will switch disks, and it says loading, but the disk doesn't spin and then it just displays OPEN.

Keep it unplugged 4 about 6 hours... then try againg.. i have hadd the same proble that every1 is talking about but 1 day i unplugged it for a while then plugged it back in an every thing was working fine.. if you dont use it 4 a while unplugg it

These players are not repaired and no parts are available except under warranty, so you will need to buy a new unit.

My RCA RTD 206 5 disc changer wont play DVD's. It stays on Disc 3 or just says close. I called the # in the manual foe help, but its no longer in service.

Wont play a disc. It will stay in Loading mode for minutes and then read "No Disc"
Try to play a music on cd instead of playing dvd. It it plays keep playing until playey got hot and drive off moisture on circuit. Let it cool down then try play dvd. If it can play severy dvd in sequence, then your unit is repaired. Keep using it to avoid condensation inside the dvd player.

Disc changer won't open, won't play DVDs. RCA RTD
Check the belt inside underneed the tray if this is still in place.
if not put belt back on

I have an RCA DVD/VHS combo with TVG. The DVD
This is a work-around rather than a solution. We put an audio CD in the tray and after closing the tray the unit begins to play the music. After waiting a few seconds we open the tray and quickly substitute a DVD and it loads OK. We had also tried cleaning the player to no avail. The CD approach is a pain but it does allow us to play DVDs. Jim

I have the rca dvd 5 dics theatre system (rtd,217a) the problem is the the 1,2,3 changer don't play. I just bought it from the store and they want to exchange it do to the fact I open it
Your problem with the store is unclear. If you just purchased it, take it back. And I urge you to dig into your pockets for something a little better, as this system is not known to be reliable or exactly high-quality.

No surround sound on normal tv just dvds
Do you have a cable box or satellite box? If you do, try hooking up your TV sound through the box. Look for audio out in the back of box (white/red RCA Jacks). Hook RCA cable from cable box to surround amp. Even if the audio out jacks are being used already, you can use Y connectors to hook up the surround amp to the box.

You can try this options..hope this helps;
RCA DRA4008 / DRC220N
  1. Turn player on with no disc in the tray
  2. Press MENU, 1, 6, 7, Mute
  3. Press EJECT and exit the menu
RCA DRC105N / DRC198N
  1. Open tray
  2. Press 1, 6, 7, 1, 9 on your remote
  3. Select region code (0 for all regions)
RCA DRC230N / DRC230L / DRC232N / DRC233N
  1. Power on player
  2. Open the tray
  3. Enter 1, 6, 7, 1, 9
    4. OSD shows current region
  4. Enter 0-6 for region setting before screen disappears
    (Enter 0 for region free)
    Display shows new region assignment (displays "ALL" if 0 is selected)
  5. Power off
RCA DRC612N
  1. Turn on the player without any disc inside
  2. Enter the code "321 789 456" before the player menu appears
  3. Select 'all' in the appearing list for regionfree
  4. Turn the player off

  1. Turn on the player while disc tray is open
  2. Go to the "Options menu"
  3. Press 8, 2, 1, 3, X (replace X with 1-6 or 9 for multi region)

My RCA RCD160 Radio/CD playder will not play CDs.
Try cleaning the lens in the CD player with a cotton swab and alcohol. If that does not resolve the problem, it is likely that the optics are defective and need to be replaced.
