    Hammer Drill,

I am currently having the same problem with my dewalt (DC925), and I used the solution mentioned in another post of yours...:

    http://www.fixya.com/support/t738111-dew...

...and I was successful, but as you mentioned it was only temporary and your current solution has not worked for me either. It appears that the adjustment ring has a "ramp" on it and as you turn the ring from lower to higher the pin is pushed into the transmission further increasing the torque. (Does that sound correct?) If it is correct, it appears that the ramp has chipped or broken right between the 21 and 22 settings. I disassembled and adjusted the ring so that I can use the 22, drill, and hammer drill settings (Which is my primary area of need) but if I adjust to 21 or below I am stuck in the 1 to 21 range. I would like to fix this problem once and for all, how would I go about doing this.

    Thanks for all your help,
    Kevin

My deWalt DC725 hammer action will not turn off. I can change speeds, direction etc but the hammer action stays on.

The problem is the metal part of the clutch that meets the pin from the transmission. remove the 4 screw from the clutch & check if the the inside of the clutch & the trans pin meets. all you can do is to push back the metal parts of the clutch setting.

Can't engage drill or hammer settings on de walt dc 925 xrp

Try turning the ring to 2 or 3 and run the drill holding the chuck so the clutch slips then try turning it to drill setting. Also try to do it in different speed settings. If not it sounds like a fault in the gear module. It might just be a metal clip just under the clip in side. Undo the 4 screws holding the gearbox onto the housing and carefully remove it, you might see the fault or loads of dirt that needs cleaning. When I pull the trigger on my Dewalt dc925 xrp hammer drill it's working for a bit then stopping and starting

it sounds like you have a problem with the switch or battery. Try cleaning the battery contacts first and then remove the battery and look into the tool and see if the switch contacts are bent not allowing battery to seat firmly. If that is OK then I would think that you need a new switch. MAKE note of how you remove it because it is polarity sensitive. Let me know if you need more assistance.

How to--- chuck removal DC925 drill DeWalt

Open the chuck fully. Inside the center bottom of the chuck you will normally find a reverse threaded lock screw that you must first remove. If it is hard to loosen, you may need to heat it with a micro torch or a heat gun to make the thread lock compound slip. Then fasten the smaller end of an allen key firmly into the jaws of the chuck. Engage the low gear. Then hit the longer end rapidly with a hammer to unscrew the chuck by rotating it anti clockwise.

The motor turns but the clutch will not engage

Take the drill out of the hammer drill setting when in reverse.  Using the drill setting with the speed on 1 will give the power to free the bit.  If the clutch will not engage, GENTLY but firmly switch between forward and reverse.  This should work just fine.   I hope this solution brings you success!  Best Regards,  Michael Mittelsdorf
