Hi Kim. If you do not have a drain hose for your dishwasher, go to any hardware or Home Depot or Lowes and get one. This is a common item. The hose attaches near the bottom front of the machine. To access this space you will need a phillips head screw driver [#2]. Remove the screws that hold the lower front panel on the machine. Inside you will see where the hose attaches to a plastic pipe nipple with a hose clamp. Run the hose out of the machine, through the wall of the kitchensink cabinet and into the plumbing there. If you have a garbage disposal, there is a plastic nipple to attach the hose to. Just be sure the thin plastic wall inside of that nipple is broken out. If it is not broken out use a flat blade screw driver and a hammer to remove it. Then slide the hose on and use a hose clamp to secure it.

If there is no garbage disposal get a dishwasher tail piece at the hardware store. This will replace the tail piece coming from one of the sink baskets down into the trap. Joe

Does anyone have installation instructions fo a Bosch free standing dishwasher smu50E65au? Thanks. Julie

Hi Julie.
A dishwasher needs access to water numerous times during it's cycle. You'll have to have the hose on the tap with water pressure on while the machine is in operation. You could exchange your tap for one with thread or install a second one behind the current one.
(Slightly agricultural repair)
When installing a dishwasher the drain hose outlet MUST be above the water level in the machine or the water will run out as soon as it is put in...They usually connect to the S bend under the sink.
It would probably be best to have a handyman/plumber attend to the job.
Good luck

My Bosch shu3307uc pumps out all the water at the end of the cycle, but slowly fills the bottom between cycles, even wuth little or no activity at the sink. have checked the drain hose for blockage, but...

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your post I understand you have a Bosch SHU3307UC dishwasher, correct ? Firther to this you.ve stated "slowly fills the bottom between cycles, even with little or no activity at the sink"

It sounds to me like the fill valve is at fault unfortunately. This is a very common problem for Bosch dishwashers of that era.

A faulty fill valve...sticking in the "open" position either due to the plunger in the coil getting stuck or sediment inside the valve body impeding it from closing correctly...Either way you're safer to change it with the history of these valves failing.

This is what to look for...

As long as your model is indeed a Bosch, this info below will be accurate.

Original part is # 425458. It usually retails for about $20 - $30USD at places such as "searspartsdirect.com" "repairclinic.com" to name a couple, if needed. They may be available at your local brick & mortar parts depot/vendors.

**Before attempting to repair the unit please turn off the power and the water supply to the dishwasher...safety first**

If you remove the lower kick plate/toe panel, you will see the inlet valve to your left...

Replacing it or to check for debris in the filter/screen at the inlet is pretty straight forward. Here`s how...

1) undo the water line. ( here you can visually inspect the screen in the valve...if nothing noted, you'll likely need to replace it as follows )

2) Remove the two #20 torx screws fastening it in place.

3) the feed tube to the machine at the back of the valve and swap it with the new one.

Once the new one is in or it's all clear you should be good to go.

Hello and welcome to Fixya.

It "smells" ( just kidding ) like you might have a problem with the way your drain hose is connected by your description.

It is crucial that your Bosch dishwasher have a siphon break or "hi-loop" installed in the drainage between the dishwasher and where it enter's your homes plumbing.

If it does not you can try different cleaners until the cows come home with little effect because the odor is coming from the drain line itself.

Was this unit installed by yourself or someone you know ? Or was it installed by a plumber/professional installer.

In the end it actually makes little difference, I'm just curious. I see professional installers as well as plumbers fail to include this crucial feature over and over.

Let me know. I'll watch for your post. If you are unclear as to what I'm referring to, check your installation guide that comes with all Bosch dishwasher's.

If you do not have any instructions regarding the proper drain/install I can email you a copy, but I would need your email address.

Good luck.

If you did not remove the plug from the disposer drain where you made your drain connection will cause the dishwasher not to drain. This should have been mentioned in your installation instructions. Also, routing the drain hose other than what is specified in the instructions, will allow food waste to enter the dishwasher when you grind food in the disposer. Read your instructions and don't take shortcuts, you want to have your appliances work well for a long time, as you have made a considerable investment in some quality appliances.

Hope this helps!

Don't. Just attach your hose and the end of the Bosch hose together. Just wind up the Bosch hose and tape it to the back of the machine.

There is a pass through the lower back side of the dishwasher that also has a restraining device to prevent drain hose from being pulled off of drain pump. After passing hose through this opening, connect hose to drain pump. Note: there is another restraining device built into lower plastic housing which has a finger notch to accept hose and keeps the drain hose engaged in to drain pump by not allowing hose to back out of drain pump/ hose interface.
