You don't say the operastiing system but windows 7 & and XP are explained below
go to the web link that have full instructions and pictures to perform restore to previous state/date. (This is for Windows XP)

This is for Windows 7
Follow these steps for reverting important Windows 7 system files back to a previous state/date using System Restore:
Difficulty: Easy Time Required: Using System Restore to reverse system changes in Windows 7 usually takes several minutes Here's How: Navigate to the Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools program group.

  1. Click on the System Restore program icon.
  2. Click Next > on the Restore system files and settings window.
  3. Choose the restore point that you want to use.
Note: Check the Show more restore points checkbox to see more than the most recent restore points.
Note: Any restore points that you created, scheduled restore points that Windows 7 created, and those created automatically during the installation of certain programs will be listed here. You can not use System Restore to undo Windows 7 changes to a date that a restore point does not exist.
  4. Click Next >.
  5. Click Finish on the Confirm your restore point window to begin the System Restore.
Note: Windows 7 will shut down to complete the System Restore so be sure to save any work you might have open in other programs before continuing.

Zynga poker wont load all the way, just started

What I would do is do a system restore and select a date before the update was done. This should restore the program to normal. You can then retry the update. But set a system restore point before you do. So if the thing stops working again you can reset it. If it goes funny again contact the software supplier and say the update is corrupting the software.

are you sure no settings was tampered with? This problem could be as a result of virus or windows update. Since it was working properly two days ago, you can restore the system back to two days when it was working.

To achieve this, simply restore your computer. Go to your computer 'Start Menu", go to "All programs", go to 'Accessories", go to "System tools", and go to "System restore. You will see an option where you will be asked to restore your system back to three to four days back. You can also enter back date that you want the system to be restore to.

If the problem is not solved after doing the system restore, you will have to scan your system for virus.

But, the system restore should resolve this problem.

I wish you good luck.

How do i restore my gateway laptop ML3108B to factory settings

Put your original restoration disc in the computer and boot it, it will probably ask if you wish to completely restore your computer back to the original configuration, click yes and follow the prompts as given to you by the program. There may be several discs and they are probably nukbered. As the program goes through the process it will ask you to remove one disc and insert another until it tells you to remove all media and reboot. When that happens, it will be just like the day it came to you. Beware though that windows at that time will want to update. My advice is to turn the automatic updates off until the computer stabilizes, then run windows update, but choose custom install and look at the updates and run maybe 10 at a time. That way there won't be any hangups or file corruptions. Reboot after each update untill you are done. As far as your drivers for the components installed in the pc, when you are on windows update, choose custom install instead of express, click on optional updates and you will see under hardware all the updates for your systems components. Get everything there and you will be all set. Good luck, ParrotHead PC Repair

Microsoft installed some sort of update to my XP yesterday. Now my computer keeps stalling out and the motor(?) starts revving like crazy and won't quit. I have to keep shutting it down. What is going on?!

This is why I don't have the automatic updates on. Perform a restore if you can back a few days ago and see what happens. Also if you can get into the add remove program you MAY see recent updates, and remove....
