Question about Miele 24 in. G665 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

I need to reset the temperature control (dishwasher is not heating water at the moment). Miele serviceman told me it was beneath right(?) hand panel. I have removed panel, but cannot see it - should it be other (left) side? Type is G6661-2.

You are right - or left. I found the reset button beneath the left panel. Easy when you know how. Thanks for your help

Thanks - you're correct in last para. I did find it myself and reset button and washer working fine (as I type). Many thanks for your interest.

I have looked at the user manual for what appears to be your model of the dishwasher. see this link.

I don't see anything mentioned about the heater reset. It does mention increasing or decreasing the water level by adjusting screw under the right hand knob (see page 42).

I have read that another model of the miele dishwasher has got the heater reset red button located on the left side of the plinth - you can check that.

Why is my Miele dishwasher displaying "Open stopcock", even though water is flowing and I've cleaned the inlet filter?

There are 2 possible main causes for lack of water, given that you have checked water availability at the dishwasher.
1. The water solenoid valve in the machine is faulty or failed.
2. The motherboard in the control panel has a fault and needs replacing.
Unless you are a DIY'er I suggest you call a serviceman

Does the Miele G665 dishwashers have a heat element as no heat is coming from my dishwasher

If it like other Mieles, it has an element to heat water if required to reach cleaning temperature, but does not have a drying element. Even then, it should give off some heat in the drying cycle and be hot after finishing.

Have a Miele G1220SC dishwasher. It recently developed a strange problem: when switching it on ALL program lights come on and the machine starts taking water. after a while it stops taking water and starts...

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

Heating Element

If lights are flashing on the control panel, the heating element might have burned out. The heating element heats the water up to operating temperature. After a set amount of time if the temperature isn't reached a light on the control panel might start flashing. The heating element can be checked for continuity with an Ohm meter.

Heating Element Assembly

If lights are flashing on the control panel, the heating element assembly might have burned out. The heating element assembly heats the water up to operating temperature. After a set amount of time if the temperature isn't reached a light on the control panel might start flashing. The heating element assembly can be checked for continuity with an Ohm meter.

Check Fault Codes

If the display lights are flashing and there is an error code in the display window, check the wiring diagram and tech sheet in the dishwasher that will provide information on the fault.

Drain Pump

If lights are flashing on the control panel, the drain pump might not be working properly. For two-wire drain pump motors check them for continuity using an Ohm meter. If it's defective You'll need to replace it. Drain pumps are not repairable.

Touchpad and Control Panel

If the lights are flashing on the display the entire touchpad and control panel assembly might be defective. If the display works but the dishwasher functions are all out of synch, or some of the buttons don't respond properly the entire touchpad and control panel might need to be replaced.

Touchpad

If the display lights are flickering for no reason, the touchpad might need to be replaced. Sometimes when the touchpad is defective the display lights are flashing randomly.

Which is the best powdered cascade product for the china/crystal setting on my miele?

Most european dishwashers are water conserving and energy saving. You have to be very careful in the type of detergent that you use. Plain, original cascade powder works fine in your Miele. Use 1/2 of the recommended amount, as your dishwasher uses much less water than the american machines that the amounts are written for. avoid cascade with additives such as bleach, or dawn. these additional components in the detergent do not rinse off well with the reduced water quantity, and will leave a gritty white residue on your dishes. Stick with the plain powder. I use Finish tablets with the red powerball, and I dont add rinse aid. These tablets work great in the Miele, asko, Bosch, and other imported dishwashers.

One caution on your china and crystal setting, your manual states that if you want to use the china and crystal cycle, the dishwasher should be connected to cold water only. The temperature of the china and crystal setting is limited to 115 degrees. your hot water is probably much hotter. if your dishwasher is connected to hot water, it will defeat the purpose of the lower temperature cycle. you will get etching on your crystal glasses.

Remember, the Miele will heat its own water one batch at a time. Connect it to cold for energy efficiency, hot for shorter cycle times. but cold only for china and crystal.
Enjoy your machine.

My gl4 ariston the only way it will heat water is to reset it . It will heat water til it get hot and then you have to reset it to get the water hot again

Occasionally, the high temperature limit shut off device may trigger and shut the

system down. This occurs when water temperature exceeds 190° F and shuts off

power to the heating element. The shut off device may also trigger from a power

outage or electrical storm.

To reach the thermostat:

1. Pry off the round cover plate (V Fig. 3/1) from its right hand edge (W Fig. 3/1) with

a small flat-head screwdriver.

2. Remove the Phillips screw revealed beneath the round cover plate.

3. The cover (C Fig. 3/1) can now be removed by pulling out its left-hand edge. When

reassembling, work in the opposite way being careful to insert the tongue of the

cover into the slot.

4. Firmly press reset button (B Fig. 4). Reconnect power.

5. IMPORTANT: Check the operation of the thermostat, turn temperature dial from

high to low, if the red light does not go off on low setting, turn off power supply and

call a service person to replace the thermostat.

6. If the system works, place dial setting to desired setting. Note: a lower setting is

more economical and reduces the risk of scalding. Replace cover plate.
CAUTION: Call a technician if the high limit needs to be reset frequently.

My dishwasher seems to be locked up and needs to be reset. the clean led is constantly flashing. i had this trouble in the past, and the serviceman reset the dishwasher by using the touchpad on the front...

Control is programmed to
stop the current cycle and
not allow any further
cycles if it suspects a
faulty heater (no
temperature increase
detected in heated
intervals). Control blinks
the Clean LED 7 times in
repetitive fashion and
disables the Start/Resume
key until cleared.
Heater circuit problem:
■ Open in heater.
■ Open connection or
component in heater
circuit.
■ Faulty heater drive
circuit on control.
Running Diagnostics clears the control and
allows it to operate again. If heating problem
is not corrected though, the control will stop
running again on next cycle. See below.
1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.
2. Check all components and connections in
the water heating circuit or heat dry circuit.
■ Check resistance of heater.
■ Check resistances of all connections and
components between the control and
heater.
■ Check operation of heater and temperature
sensor in Diagnostics cycle.

KENMORE DISHWASHER CLEAN LIGHT BLINKS SEVEN TIMES M#665.17029403

The thermistor beneath the accumulator inside the sump detects the water temperature as it begins the first 8 minutes of the main wash cycle. During this time, the controller expects the thermistor to detect the 2-4 degrees rise in the water temperature when the first 8 minutes is completed. If the expected temperature rise is not met, the controller will not be satisfied. It will shut the dishwasher down and blink the clean light 7 times. Press the heated dry then normal wash buttons in the same sequence two times. The unit will enter diagnostics mode, but can be stopped by pressing the cancel button. It will clear the fault and makes the dishwasher run normal but the fault will appear again if you have problem in either of the following:
  1. Heater and its circuitry
  2. Water filling
  3. Pumping motor
If the heater is not working, the water temperature will not rise then controller will shutdown the machine.
If there's no water entering the machine, no water will be heated and there's no way the controller through the thermistor can detect any rise in temperature.
If the pumping motor is not working, the water cannot circulate over the heater and be heated. Again, the controller will not be satisfied.

You can bypass this fault detection feature by filling the machine either with extremely cold or extremely hot water. Water colder than 62 or hotter than 160 degrees Fahrenheit will make the controller not to check for a temperature rise but rather continue on the next cycle.
Please let me know if the problem still bother you.

Miele G892 SC dishwasher not heating/cycle won't stop

Miele have cold inlet only. Either element is open circuit, or the relay that switches the element has failed. My money would be on the element first, then the relay. The machine will sit in that mode forever as it is waiting for the temperature of the water to reach a certain temp before telling the electronic unit to move to the next part of the wash. If you need assistance in how to test & how to get to these parts just let me know. But you will need an ohm meter to test the element. Regards
