Same thing, 2-year-old LG 42-inch LCD suddenly stopped working after being perfectly fine. Will turn on with lots of pushing buttons but only stays on 4-5 minutes then an error messages flashes on screen, something like "___ data instructions." It goes off so quickly I cannot read the first word.

42" LG plasma

It sounds like a bad panel, which is not what you want to hear. Replacing the panel on a Plasma TV usually costs more than just replacing the TV. However a bad panel causes vertical lines exactly as you describe.

How to fix Toshiba Regza LCD TV when half the screen with vertical streaks?

hi this fault sounds like a bad tab/ribbon fault, at top of the tv are ribbons connector to the screen, when one is faulty the heat makes them flex causing this fault, you can bond the ribbon down with a bit of rubber to stop it flexing, but this not a permanent repair as it is a screen fault. hope it helps

The tv just turned off and it will not turn on. It's only 2 1/2 years old, we do not use it a lot. What coud be the problem

The power supply is most likely at fault. You can test the power from supply to main board with a voltmeter.

Have 42 inch LG flat screen...for about 3 years...

Take the back off with no power connected..You should have 2 invertor pcbs..one on the left and one on the right..well the side of the picture you cant see is the same side of the faulty invertor..replace this and this should solve the problem.it is the cheapest option..if not..im afraid is is a new LCD screen unless you are prepared to take it appart and replace backlight bulbs :)

Did you measure diagonally from corner to corner? This is usually how all manufacturers quote screen size. Hope this helps

Vertical line on LCD TV Panel

Had this same issue on right side of 52" about 1 inch from side but had 3 vertical lines that disappeared after 40 minutes. Have Samsung LNT5265FX/XXA and about 16 months old. LCD Panel itself had to be replaced to fix it, fortunately had extended service plan

Most common part that goes bad...

Dell will charge you $1200 or so to just look at it...

Mine was 3 days out of warrenty.. Dell told me to go pound salt..

If you can find someone to look at it... Here's the part number that might be bad...

Either the diffusion has not been aligned properly or the unit has a bad Plasma panel. If the unit is an LG plasma it carries a 2 year warranty and you should contact LG for the nearest auth. service center.
