This happens all the time. It just might be fixable. This connector is known as the "f" connector or female coaxal connector. Most average electronics technician can fix them. This connector is attached to a component called the tuner. The tuner is what takes the signal and selects the channel the tv recieves. To replace the connector it means removeing the cuircit board that the tuner is on and then removeing the tunner, disasembling the tuner. Now until you find a good tech, there is another option... take an vcr and use the rca inputs on set. essitally tunning the set through the vcr. Now you will have to change channels through the vcr. but it will work. also there is a chance that the tuner might be damaged. just depends on the damage that occured when the connector was broke off..,let me know if you need any more help
On Deflection board CK cp150 2200uf 16v if it is puffed up on top it is BAD there is 2 more capacitors you need to change out as well 220uf 35v in same circuit, resolder all pins on FBT flyback Transfomer. Also Ck second Ribbon connector make sure it is in correctly this ribbon can also cause set not to come on.
whats wrong with the old tuner? did the connector break? depending on the damage the connector can be replaced to replace the tuner right out i would call a medium difficult level. it invovles removeing the signal board the board with the tuner on it simply unsoldering and replacings care should be taken not damage surface mounted components. at the shop it is possible we repair these tuner which involves opening the can tuner and soldering a new connector to the can of the tuner.
that model is famous for having bad flybacks. fortunately they arent exspensive and there easy to replace. you can get a new replacement at the following link for less than 50 bucks and they give free instructions on how to install it properly. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
i have noticed that the new tuners are missing a few pins. i believe that it will work. what is the exact make and model of the set there is a tiny printing of the model above the model # i has d52w15...yx....something. you need this to cross reference the tuner. let me know and i will cross ref it
the easies and cheapest way is to use the audio video input. pulg the cable into your vcr & use the vcr to change channel. the other way is to replace the tuner, typically tuners sell for around $75.00 to $100.00.
