no, the filter has been cleaned. i took the a/c apart and resoldered the boards where i thought the component was that beeps. it still has been beeping while in use, not so much as it was before, but still. the digital thermostat flashes to 00 when it beeps as well, but i've resoldered that too. not sure what it could be.

My kolin inverter type aircon wall mounted stopped working, the led display indicated E1. What does this mean?

The Sharp e1 problem is a timer that is pretending to demand that you clean the filter. It stops the machine every 720 hours and forces you to do a procedure to get it to go away.

There are 2 possible procedures.

1) Unplug the machine. Hold down the power button while you plug the machine in and wait for a beep about 5 seconds long. Let go of the power button. Unplug the machine. Plug it back in.

2) Unplug the machine. Hold down the mode button while plugging the machine back in and waiting for a beep of about 3 seconds duration. Let go of the mode button. The machine will start. Turn the machine off by pressing the power button. Resume trying to use the machine normally.

If these don't work, the "demand to clean filter" timer is broken and you will need to buy parts to repair the machine.

It requires surgery to remove the beeper :) seriously, find a local nerd to go in, not hard to do, and yank out the little piezo buzzer. I've had customer that wanted the same, factory said sorry no dice.

My on wall unit beeps even when turned off

Sounds like an error code. Watch the status light to see if it's coding an error message.

My unit shut off now displays E1.

Sharp updated the procedure for resetting the E1 code.

1. unplug unit
2. hold the Power button while plugging the unit back in
3. keep holding the Power button until the unit beeps
4. unplug unit again
5. plug it back in and it should be good

Here is the updated user manual

Aircondition not working

E1 indicates  Filter needs replacing/Cleaning , this code flashes after 720 hours of operation time.

Disconnect the power plug

Clean or replace filter

HOLD DOWN (dont let go) Of  the ON/OFF button and plug the unit back up and continue to hold the ON/OFF button until you hear a beep

After the beep unplug your A/C

Then plug it back up to and turn it on for normal operation

IF THIS FAILS TO REMOVE THE CODE

UNPLUG A/C  THEN HOLD DOWN THE MODE BUTTON AND PLUG IT UP STILL HOLDING THE MODE BUTTON UNTIL YOU HEAR A BEEP.

UNPLUG UNIT  AND THEN PLUG IT BACK UP AND ONE OF THESE 2 STEPS WILL FIX YOUR PROBLEM   UNLESS THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM IN THE CONTROL BOARDS

to reduce cost, many manufacturers have trimmed off many "extra" functions. i believe your unit had the feature to silence settings change removed to reduce cost. if you think you are up to it, do the following: open it, find the alarm beeper (may be on a circuit board) then cut one wire leading to it. if on circuit board then crush the beeper with vice grips if cannot de-solder it
